Is anyone here a registered independant?
I moved and was filling out my new voter registration form and I am done with one exception.

Do I re-register as a Democrat or slide down to Independant?

I know Micheal Moore is an Independant and I agree with almost everything he says.

I also work at a small radio station and I think when I argue with Republicans on the air it would be more effective to say I am an Independant.

But I hate the thought of not being able to vote in the NY primaries.

Any suggestions?

1. Nothing wrong with being an Independant
I was registered as an Independent for a lot of years. I only switched to Democrat to vote in the Arizona primaries. The outcome was already a foregone conclusion but I just wanted to help punch up the Dem numbers. It depends upon Kerry's actions after he is elected whether I will stay Dem or go back to Indie.

2. I was registered as
unaffiliated for awhile, but only 'cause I wanted to vote in Repub primaries. I re-registered as a Democrat last time I moved. I am a Democrat and proud of it.

If you care about demo primaries, maybe you really are a democrat? Do you vote third party much?

6. Never.
I switched from Repug in 1998 when I stopped listening to only soundbites and started paying attention. Almost everything the Democratic party stands for I agree with.
I LOVE John Kerry and KNOW he will be a great President.

8. Walks like a Democrat,
talks like a democrat, must be..... a democrat!

But seriously, I am no MM expert, but he did support Nader in 2000, so maybe that is why he considers himself an Independent, he sometimes supports third party candidates.

4. Yes
but so is everybody else in North Dakota.

I was an independent when I was a newspaper report, but changed my registration in '84 to support Jesse Jackson.

Cast my first presidential vote for a protest candidate named Peter Camejo. Free beer to anybody who can identify the party he was running under.

9. I was registered as independent when

I used to live in a state that asked your party affiliation. Here in Ohio the voter registration form doesn't ask. If I recall correctly, in the primary elections they just ask whether you want a Democrat or Republican ballot.

10. I am now and always have been
I consider myself independent and vote usually for the person and not the party but things have gotten out of hand in this country and the only true reform party is the Democratic Party. I will vote a total Democratic Ticket until major changes take place or don't. If things don't change after Kerry is elected and they continue with Corporate welfare and war profiteering I will never support this Party again. I will become so disillusioned that I probably just won't vote again.

11. If I change my party afilliation
it will probably be to Green rather than Independent. Around here they tend to assume that if you're an Independent, you're sort of half Democrat and half Republican.

You can always change your party afilliation if you want to vote in a primary, then change it back afterwards.

13. My husband and I have been
registered Dems for 30 years yet when we received our voter registration forms this year, he was declared Independent. I don't know if it's simply a mistake or what, but we are in NC leaving me to wonder if there is more to it.

I am becoming more and more suspicious everyday so I am probably just paranoid.
