9. I also have to rewire my jaw
:wow:
Personally, I don't care that he's gay but I'm so sorry that he feels the need to resign. Would that anyone in the * administration could locate any shame for their many crimes and resign as well.

4. So a Catholic governor of California gets a pass for
adulterous affairs because they are heterosexual, but a gay man has to resign because the affair was homosexual.

13. I don't think that's *quite* the point.
It seems as though sexual harassment charges are on the horizon, not an affair leak. Still a shame, if the charges prove to be unfounded later.

called Gigi Goyette. He was still seeing her after he married Maria according to some reports.

5. what kind of a governor/person is he?
I don't know him at all.

10. I hate that he's resigning
I think he could do so much good if he came out, then continued serving competently as governor. I don't like the impression it gives that you can't be fit for office if you're gay. That's wrong.

11. well, it's also the case
that his lover was given a job on the taxpayer's dime, and there's some other stuff that sounds less than correct. McG is gay and that's ok, but if he's crooked he's got to go. and soon, while dems still can put someone good up in time for nov. kerry doesn't need to get associated with this, whatever it may turn out to be. but you just know what the rethugs will focus upon.

atrios has a lot on the message boards about this.

12. He could have use this as a referendum on America's state of
compassion. He could have said "I am a gay American and have come out for (insert reason here), and while I understand America is a bright place there is a lot of ugliness too. That is why I will ask my fellow New Jerseyians to voice there concerns to my office and put my career in their hands. If a majority of the public wants me to go, I will go with my head held high, if not I will stay and represent all of you with the respect we ALL deserve. You may write/call/email me for the next week and I will reveal the results at the end of that time."
