I cant imagine Bush wants an election about Iran, nor would he want to go in before the election.
Lets hypothetically speculate that some circles of power in administration and its backers have become pessimistic about Bush's chances. Could they be pushing the Iran issue to either:
-get us in before the election and kick the foriegn policy ball down a hill so Kerry has to chase it, hopefully causing enough chaos to keep Kerry in the fight and trigger a conflict that will force Kerry deep into the M.E. and potentially keeping alot of people in the pentagon.
or
-force it to be an issue in the campaign, lie enough to get 60% of the country scared of Iran, and force Kerry to pledge to use force on Iran
Even if things keep going well for Kerry, we have to be very careful about the momentum foriegn policy takes into this election, we have seen good democrats get sucked into disasterous foriegn policy situations like this before.
