I watched it, and I was amazed. He challenged O'Neill hard, over and over again. The guy there to defend Kerry had it easy. When Matthews went to him it was to let him tell his side, and he got in his talking points. When he went to O'Neill he challenged his story again and again.

Truly astonishing.

Matthews asked all the right questions. He said that Kerry fought in the war, so how does this make Bush look better. O'Neill kept falling back, saying, "That's not the point" and crap like that.

Matthews did a great job exposing these Swiftboat sleaze merchants for what they are. Why is it he's the only one with the guts to take on these lying bastards? Damned liberal media.

17. What a manipulative ass!

As if there was any doubt that he is a Republican operative:

a) he kept referring to the "kid" Kerry shot "in the back" - extremely loaded language - but then quickly following it with the disingenuous "which we are not blaming him for." Then why use such prejudicial language, asswipe?

b) when he talked about Kerry running on shore to shoot the VC, Matthews asked him "wasn't that courageous? Wasn't that risking his life? Weren't there potentially VC everywhere?" O'Neill chose, in that moment, to parse Kerry's actions, saying something along the lines of "well, he was brave, sort of, but not really THAT brave."
