How will you recognize that sanity is returning to this country?
I say it will happen when a politician points out we spend more on defense than nearly all other nations combined, says we need to cut the defense budget by a substantial amount, and doesn't get immediately tarred and feathered by every major media organ.

1. When a liberal can call a conservative
a conservative and he/she shrinks away from it because the public knows what it really means. The code will have been broken then and sane discussion of issues can begin. Moore is right, at heart this is a liberal country.

9. When "liberal" and "conservative"
both serve as a loose definition of a person's political philosophy and not as invective, and good people who disagree with each other can sit down and reasonably discuss an issue, both motivated not by a need to win, but a need to make the world better.

3. when tom delay
or one of his soul mates like hyde, drier, hayworth, or burton gets booted from office. When the tv and radio are 50/50 dem/rep. when someone calls gwb a deserter and a coward and gets to go on tv for weeks on end repeating the charge.

Lots of things could be harbingers of america recovering.

13. Dare I humbly submit this, since you brought up bouncing tom delay?
It's worth a look, and worth a donation (even a teensy one) to delay's opponent, Richard Morrison...

11. Kucinich has been pointing that out for a long time
maybe we will find some sanity when we stop marginalizing the few voices of sanity.

I totally agree with your take on military spending BTW.
It IS completely insane.
