I think that they sent an important message to the rest of the country. It was a major step forward. They may not be able to do this again in their life time, but certainly openend the way for future generations.
they will be recognized in the future. There was little doubt they would be overturned in the courts - they are symbolic. And to see Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin exchange vows was a sight for history.
