"We want electricity in our homes, not up the arse."
The fact is that Iraq is in a much bigger mess today than before the war. The situation was summed up by a former inmate of Abu Ghraib prison: "We want electricity in our homes, not up the arse."

This is a fascinating commentary on Iraq. Read it if you dare.

1. "There is only one serious option:
the unconditional withdrawal of foreign troops from Iraq."

2. Great article about a nightmare.

You know, I was one of those that believed that since we were there, we owed it to the Iraqi people to rebuild and make thier lives better.

In short, though I do not support the war, I felt we had no choice to stay.

That has changed.

Withdrawl really is the only answer.

And that is impossible under *Bush.

He has simply alienated to many of our longtime allies for them to pull our fat out of the fire.

I am convinced that Kerry is statesman enough to pull this off.

We really do owe the people of Iraq that.

Afterall, it is what the majority wants.

Welcome to Democracy Mr. *Bush.

Think it is time for some more dictator comments.

3. I'm starting to believe that we help/honor the Iraqis BY withdraw
That said, I believe we out to be forced to pay reparations to Iraq for the 20 plus years of misery we've inflicted on them - first through the ten years of supporting Saddam, then through the decade of economic sanctions which devastated civilians and did little to its leader, and now through war devastation. I'm paraphrasing something someone else said, but I completely agree with it in every possible way.

Get Troops home right now? That seems more likely to be the best answer if we care about the Iraqis. Pretend like nothing ever happened and deny any further responsibility to the rebuilding of that country? Absolutely not. I realize this will never happen, but we ought to have to pay for what we did.

5. Agreed.

One way or the other, we are going to be writing checks for a long time.

Even though *Bush said Iraqi oil revenues would take care of most of it.

We simply need another president who is capable of making the kind of deals necessary to get our troops out, and get a combination of NATO, and Arab, troops in there.

But Jr. seems intent on killing anyone that is not going to go along with their game plan, whatever that may be.

And with every passing day, that number rises.

With what is going on over there now, one could hardly call it democracy.

There is also an almost racist attitude that a society that has been around for thousands of years cannot rebuild their own country.

That somehow if we leave they will not be able to pick up the pieces.

I have come to believe that that is wrong.

Their only reason now to stay would be to prevent them setting up an Islamic fundamentalist government.

But if he truly intended on giving them Democracy, that would be their choice.

Anyway, I agree 100%.

Like Powell was reported to have said, "You break it, you own it."

Unfortunately, the 'you' he was referring to is the American people.
