What is Maureen Dowd's Deal?

She obviously is against Bush and probably against all Republicans. By the same token, she's also against the Clintons, Gore, and says some dumb stuff about Kerry, too.

What's her deal, politically? Most op-ed writers are either strongly left or strongly right and she just seems to hate everyone. Is she a third-party (Nader) supporter? Or does she just spew hatred against everyone?

I don't get it.

She's a good writer, great talent. I just don't understand what she's trying to accomplish with it.

that her role as a columnist at the NYT is not "partisan". According to her description, they have others designated for those roles and she was hired as a "generalist" (my word not hers).

It's not that any of us hate the Dems (I don't think she does either), but DU'ers tend to criticize Dems almost as much as Republicans. Constructive criticism is a good thing IMO.

she went from sassy political critic to mean annoying opprotunist. She never misses out on an opprotunity to trash somebody, whether they deserve it or not. I don't recall her every saying anything positive about anybody.

Not hating all. I noticed a lot of reverence for Poppy, and I don't remember her Raygun jokes. I think she has a personal envy of Hillary and some twisted sexually motivated obsession with Clinton (King's "Misery" may be tthe way to understand that). She is smart enough to see W's idiocy as well as the trend for anti-W books to sell better than the pro-W.
But she sure helped W get installed, just read her 2000 columns.
