Did anyone else just hear Limbaugh?

He just did about 5 minutes or so on McGreevy - saying how he sympathized with him, how his "take" on what is happening to him is not the same as it would have been a year ago, and he is GLAD about that, how it is so sad that some people cannot be who they truly are because they have to pretend to be what others want them to be, etc.

Maybe it was just his oxy-addled brain trying to remember what he was taught in rehab, but I honestly thought he was going to come out on his own show.

It sure as hell sounded like he was laying the groundwork, though.

Rush was allegedly fired from a Pennsylvania radio station in 1973 for being caught in a lewd act with another man. Not that there's anything wrong with that; it's the hypocrisy of the rest of his life that galls me.



I knew Rush as Dr. Jacques Roque (paging Dr. Freud!), a pseudonym he used at WRVQ-94 FM in Richmond, VA shortly after his firing, circa 1974-76. He had a great voice. My guess is he had to leave once word of his firing got out around the office, but I don't know that part for sure.

I'm looking in the archives for info about the firing. Unfortunately, searching the archives is currently disabled due to high server load. (Maybe that's part of a freeper plot.) You might be able to get somewhere with this allegation by Googling "Jeff Christie"--but I can't confirm that either, since I'm at work. :)

All I'm asking for is confirmation that my "reading" of what he said jibes with what others have heard.

I was shocked when I heard it, so I'm asking if anyone else got the same "vibe" from it that I did.

Oh, and as for listening to Pigboy, here's how it came about. I was pulling into the garage with Franken's show on, and I of course lost the signal when I got indoors. I went to hit the radio button for "off" and hit the "AM" button by mistake. Otherwise, I'd have never known... :)

Of course once he started I listened to the whole thing.

He was bizarrely sympathetic to McGreevy's position. There was a moment when he was talking about what torment this must be for him, then Rush said "I know... " as though he was going to say "I know whhat it's like" or "I know how it feels", but then he caught himself and went somewhere else.

Anyway, I'll give the pig a couple of points for not being as much of a mean, vindictive pig as he often is, (we all know most of his listeners would eat it up if he had been)

It is a bit surprising though, that he has basically said that gay people should be out, and be themselves and not live a lie. That is amaing for a man who has aligned himself with the "Christian ex-gay, shock-treatment, love the closet, ignore-it-and-it'll-go-away" crowd.
