Surprise! The Bush Tax cuts really did favor the rich!
"The calculations, requested by congressional Democrats, confirm the long-held view by independent tax analysts that the tax cuts, enacted in 2001 and 2003, have heavily favored the wealthiest taxpayers, the Times said."

Surprise! I wasn't wrong! You weren't wrong! The Bush tax cuts really did favor the rich! It is just, now the the bi-partisan CBO agrees. Sorry Bush, it was only matter of time before this came back to bite you in the ass.

2. Those CBO accountants hate america
I mean, don't you normally think of accountants when you think of America-hating, radical, tree-hugging, latte-sipping & bra burning?

3. Funny, but actually what they're going to point to is the %s
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 12:26 PM by DFLer4edu
They are going to say that the middle 20% got a bigger tax cut because % wise they got to take home more money % wise than the top 1%. Which is true. However, as the CBO has found, more important is the percentage of the tax burden that a tax bracket pays, instead of the percentage the individual pays. Bush is going to play on the line that they pay for 20% and that they have paid their fair share. Actually, at 20% they have not paid their fair share as the control nearly 1/3 of this country's wealth. Arg!!! Bush's understanding of economics is worse than Reagan's was!

4. top 1% paid a little over 20%...call me crazy
but it seems like the stat was identical in 1992.

we've had tax increases and tax reductions across the board since the 90's, and the top 1% is still only paying 20-21%
