3. we hope that the people of new jersey realize that not every democrat
is as stupid and dishonest as Jim McGreevy apparently was. AND THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE FACT HE HAD AN AFFAIR, BUT ABOUT THE FACT HE TRIED TO COVER HIS TRACKS WITH THIS PERSON BY GIVING HIM A CUSHY JOB TO SHUT HIM UP.

(again sorry for the caps, but some people are also stupid and dishonest on this board too)

5. i don't know Jersey politics that well
I'm a North Carolina boy. The President of the State Senate is a democrat, so he has some kind of leadership experience.

6. Doubtful
First of all, it wouldn't be stealing. McGreevey should resign for being corrupt down to his underpants. We backed a loser in NJ, and I believe in taking your lumps for your mistakes.

But even if a special election was held on Nov 2, I think the Dem would win. It's a strongly dem state and the repubs wouldn't have much time to get a candidate out there. Basically, if its neutral D versus neutral R in New Jersey, we win 99 out of 100 times.

And - as I said yesterday - even if (God forbid) we lose that governorship, it would be a Whitman-esqe, socially liberal Republican. It wouldn't be Rick Santorum; we would survive.

7. Is the president of the Senate a strong candidate?
Also, are you by any chance Bruse Springsteen?

8. I haven't lived in NJ in a while....
I don't know if anyone is a "strong" candidate when you are running in special election because the last governor is a "closeted homosexual who puts his unqualified lover in a high-paying, important post while his top campaign donor hires prostitutes to blackmail his enemies." I mean, that's a tough act to follow.

But, it could be the president of the senate or it could be Corzine. Both are prominent figures with name recognition in a very Democratic state. The Republicans rarely have a deep bench in NJ; Whitman made a name for herself pretty much all on her own by nearly beating Bradley for the Senate. I don't think they have anyone like that waiting in the wings to step in.
