Portland DU Moment: I just met Prankster at Wynn's Hot-Dog Stand!
First, let me say that downtown Portland is electric and celebratory this morning. People are streaming east through downtown toward the Kerry rally at the Willamette. People are passionate and excited.

But I was hungry, so I decided to follow my own advice and go to Wynn's hot dog stand at 4th and Morrison for a chili dog. I'm a Wynn's booster because they advertise on 620 AM, our Air America station.

So I get up to the stand and get in line behind a nice looking man and woman. The man is wearing a Kerry button and is having a conversation with the proprietor about the campaign, the swiftboat liars, all this. The couple get their hot-dogs and move to the side of the cart.

A few other people come up behind me while Mr. Wynn is putting my chili-dog together. They know him, so they ask him how he's doing. He says, "I'm doing great! I just found out that somebody posted on Democraticunderground that people going to the rally should eat here today!"

I'm sort of shocked. I say, "I posted that. Somebody told you about that?" Wynn points to the couple and says, "Yeah, they did."

I stuck my hand out to shake and said, "Hey, you're on DU? I'm swag!"

"I'm prankster," the swell guy says, and we shake and chat for a second or three. I wished them fun at the rally and they took off. Then the people behind me wanted to hear all about DU.

Then I got my chili-dog for free in appreciation for my "go eat at Wynn's" post on DU.

So I stuffed my hot-dog cash into the tip jar, and marched very happily back to the office.

Great to meet you, prankster. I've never knowingly met another DUer before.

VENCEREMOS!

1. OK, now right there is the difference between "us" and "them".
"So I stuffed my hot-dog cash into the tip jar, and marched very happily back to the office."

A repug would have tipped nothing and bragged about how he got a free hot dog all day.
Good on ya, swag.
