How will the Hurricane be politicized?
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 05:08 PM by sundog
Already Wolfie is asking HOW Hurricane Charlie will affect the election.

I know a lot of people are seriously stressed, so I don't want to step on any toes. Our thoughts are with the families there.

I'm just wondering the extent to which Jeb & * will play this up.

1. They will declare a state of emergency and leave it at that
Politicizing it would just be a shot in their own foot.

2. He already has. FEMA is doing a terrific job!
FEMA is the Feds. If they do good, brother takes the credit. If they do bad, brother takes the blame.

3. Well, if there's no National Guard to help afterwards....
Sen. Byrd has been warning about this for quite a while.

4. To the max. But I'm more concerned

with FEMA roaming around and the threat of martial law that implies.

We're too close to a vital election to have * thisfar from appointing his brother dictator of Florida.

I feel so bad for the folks in Florida and those with loved ones there. First they have to deal with mother nature then along comes Satan in the guise of *.

Not that I'm too cynical.

5. Well, so far
the local news has GUSHED endlessly about how Mel Martinez (GOP senate candidate) has "promised and delivered, and delivered BIG" delivered what? Why, nasty looking lunches for the first responders courtesy of the salvation army (looks like they were the ones who delivered, but Martinez showed up for his photo op anyway, and the press went wild)! Here I'm waiting for the radar images showing me how close Charley is to Orlando, and I keep getting Mel and Jebby's ugly mugs instead! The whore press is using the hurricane to promote the hell out of these corrupt opportunists. It's sickening!

10. All I can say at this point is that
JEBikins can apparently speak the English language. I am sure that this disaster will be politicised, but what effect it has on how Florida is governed and who Florida chooses to send to Washington come November remains to be seen.

11. looks like they learned from andrew
So far it looks like they are moving quickly to get in place to get people the money they need. The federal emergency declaration is already in place for several affected counties.

Bush I screwed around way too long and people waited weeks or months for help with Andrew, which helped cost him Florida.

It looks like they have learned something and some people are going to be helped as a result.

Time will tell. Keeping my fingers crossed that people will get their emergency aid in a timely fashion.

12. Jeb running around yelling "women and fake voting machines first!"
A quick response to the disaster, flyovers in helicopters pointing at things, "look at us, we are on the job" photo ops etc.
