NO NO NO NO NO NO that son of a bitch. Leave it to the "Frauds are Us Family" to LOOT the federal treasury in the middle of a hurricane.
It never stops. Even if we get the WH back it's not going to matter because it will be STRIPPED CLEAN. Happy Friday 13th. I'm getting drunk!!!!!!!

1. Rove is getting a hair up his butt right now...
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 05:17 PM by RobertSeattle
Rove is thinking:
"Hmm, I'll combine a bill that has 16 Billion for Florida that include a major Anti-Abortion clause in it - Kerry would have to vote against it --- then we can hammer him --- ka-ching Florida's electoral votes..."

2. No. He's going to get it from FEMA
I don't know what the Hell insurance companies are good for anymore. the area where Charlie landed isn't poor or middle class by any means. Don't these people have flood insurance? They have canals instead of streets. That's some fancy property. this is what happens all the time now. privatize the profits, socialize the costs. the supply siders theme song. it's nothing but good ole welfare for the well off. but even I didn't expect he'd ask for SO MUCH.

6. Did he actually ask for $16B????
I saw where he was projecting that much damage, but I haven't seen a link where he was asking the federal government to pay for all of it.

Can you post the link here? I'm in C. Florida and would love to read about this one.

7. It doesn't work that way
my spouse worked as a housing disaster inspector and the company he worked for was contracted by FEMA. He only worked for them when there was a federal disaster such as this. They bid for the job with FEMA and that's where the money comes from--FEMA's budget. It doesn't come directly from the federal treasury.

9. Watch for lots of govt $ to flow
25 years ago (more?) Jane Byrne was elected Mayor of Chicago because
her predecessor didn't get salt trucks out fast enough after a big winter storm.

The Gulf Coast of Fla. leans more to Bush, right?....They're gonna try to do whatever they can to keep these people HAPPY!
