well I lucked out!
I live in Pinellas County Florida. This morning I was expecting hurricane charlie to touchdown in my area. If it had remained on its projected path - I bet it would have been a category 5. My father owns a grocery store on the beach - if that hurricane hit - our store would have been gone. All we had was cloudy skies and light rain. God answered our prayers.

1. Good deal!
Light a candle for the folks catching this in the teeth. Spread that good karma around.

2. I'm glad you are ok, but do you think it is appropriate to pray that

a hurricane hit someone else, and then rejoice in it's changing course and flattening other people? Do you really believe that God valued your request so much that he chose to send the storm through other people who presumably did not pray as effectively?

I am always amazed at what people pray for.

5. I did not pray for it to hit someone else and I am not
rejoicing at the plight of others. I am just sharing my experience. A category 5 would have destroyed my house and my father's store would have been gone. I am fortunate in sense that it did not turn out as expected.

and her family aren't too far from you in Gibsonton and I hope they were as lucky as you.

This storm isn't done, and will break hearts along the way.

My dad is retired from NOAA and I talked to him a little while ago and he said how impressed he is with some of the new modeling, because Charley's path was predicted within 5 miles. That's astonishing.

He said it's following Donna's (1960) track almost exactly so far and will bother the East Coast all the way up to New York before it's done.

Chew on that awhile. :scared:

4. Wow
I'm in Pinellas County too and I was extremely worried . . . I am so glad we didn't get the hit but I feel sorry for the counties that did. They were not as well prepared as we were.

Bless them all and I'm sure we'll hear the horror stories . . .
