I barely escaped Charley but that was nothing (repuke alert)
Me and my lady were on the last flight out of Orlando.
We were evacuated from Siesta Key yesterday drove 6 hours at 20 miles per hour to Orlando where we stayed the night. We left for the Airport boarded the plane flight 2112 were told to get off the plane then 20 minutes later reboarded and we were off quite a bumpy take off.

But what really scared me was the amount of Bush Cheney Bumper Stickers i saw driving from sarasota to orlando at least 7 shrubs to 1 Kerry.
We stopped at a gift shop to buy souveniers for our friends and i happened to look at the bumper sticker stand they sold Bush Cheney yet no kerry edwards and what really pissed me off was a Bumper sticker that read
Wanna piss off a Liberal get a job and work hard...I was livid we left the store and spent 300 bucks at a different one.
Those dumb ass repukes I am a liberal who has busted my ass for the last 20 years doing jobs those retards wouldnt or couldnt do....
I was so dismayed at florida I told my lady that as soon as we land in kansas i am gonna hug a redneck.

1. That area of central Florida where Charley struck is Republican territory
According to political analyst Carlos Watson, a former long time Florida resident who appeared on CNN earlier today, the area of Florida you are talking about where Charley has been going through is predominantly Republican, more so than other parts of Florida. He predicted that the Bushes will pull out all the stops to get them up and running quickly so voter turnout from that area is not disrupted.

You remind me of a friend who will not go to Florida until Jeb is no longer governor and will not use any flights that go through Bush Airport in Texas! Glad you made it out of there okay.

6. But you live in Kansas
I live here too. Once you get out of the cities (wichita, Manhattan, KC area) it is solid (R). Just feel lucky you were not in the pan handle, talk about a (R) stronghold. At least you got out of the storms. Bad enough with the tornados here, don't need to go on vacation for more of them.

3. My husband and I were there right after the selection.
I made the observation then that I understood HOW Florida elections got so screwed up...

I was most uncomfortable with the huge number of Bush/Cheney bumperstickers on display (on SUV's I might add!) along with how very "southern" (should probably read as Faulknerian, but I can't be sure of my spelling!) interior Florida was. Wow. Coming from Illinois THAT was a shock to my system.

4. yeah it is a little scary there.
I have a good friend who lives in Orlando--her family is native Floridians--they are a prominent Florida family who has lived there for several generations and they used to all be good Democrats--her grandparents were friends with Janet Reno's parents!

The entire family has gone repug--that is around 22 voting members who are all solidly repug. I am majorly ticked about this. They are very well-to-do professional people--and they cannot see past their damn tax breaks. This is what our society is coming to.

:puke:

5. I think you witnessed an anomaly
There have been a few threads lately about how few Bush*/Cheney signs have been seen. I live in a heavily Republican state and I have seen zero signs absolutely zero and not a lot for Kerry also but I have seen some. I have seen a few signs for the Republican running for Senate but far more for the Democratic Candidate. Don't worry be happy, you made it away before the storm.
