What's the Point of Knowing Any More Crap About The BFEE?
Seriously, what is this compulsion to know the latest ridiculous stunt, ridiculous lie, smug or stupid comment, the latest impropriety or cheap shot that happens every day - or several times a day.

I know enough to know how to vote. I know enough to convince other people to vote. I know enough to know that any additional information at this point is superfluous. That repeated exposure to these lies and basic inhumanity cannot be healthy.

Information is power, and I am grateful for DU and other internet sites to provide and exchange the information - but part of the game that the Bushies are playing is information overload. We keep going from scandal to scandal - any one of which (if/when something similar happens on our side - all hell breaks loose. But we are desensitized to it on their side. It's almost as if the body politic has split off into an Id (R) and a Superego (D). Every time we try and suppress them, they've done and pulled some other stunt. and if it's not the Swift Boat clowns, it'll be something else.

We need to focus on the root of this behavior and get out a singluar, simple message. No more laundry lists... it's overwhelming.

Thanks for reading.

1. The Onion ran a headline that said,
"Nations liberal suffering from outrage fatigue" sad and true.

I agree, and God Bless DU!

I LOVE YOU GUYS

2. it's gotta be affecting us
possibly in ways we don't even know yet. running from what's going on may be seen as denial, but what do you call running to the information. masochism? compulsiveness? self-loathing?

how about self-preservation? I used to think that truth trumps everything. I haven't even taken time to reflect, because the information is moving so fast. Now I'm thinking that you just need enough truth to make an educated decision to do whatever is within your realm of power to do. Not much more and not anything less. I think some of the frustration lies with the inescapable conslusion that we are indeed limited in our abilities to stop this - there is not enough that can be done and waaaaay too many things beyond our control.

strangely enough, this whole Bush nighmare has made me strive to be a better person. but that's another thread entirely.

3. agree
I am interested, though, in how the campaign is shaping up--sometimes one of those ridiculous stunts needs to be addressed, or if there's something that's truly newsworthy.

Case in point: this bullshit that FDA Commissioner Lester Crawford coughed up yesterday:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=2207755&mesg_id=2209103

about how drugs from Canada are at greater risk to be targeted by terrorists. This "news" has filthy slimy money-interest written all over it, and was announced by the guy who's supposed to be protecting us. I fired off an email as several other DUers did. They get 200-300 DUers calling them on it they're going to notice. That's the kind of shit that can make a difference.
