So: will the press compare the quick reaction to Charley with 9/11?
In other words: Georgie was already getting funds and logistical help put together for Florida BEFORE Charley even hit (at the request of his Governor brother).

Will the press compare his quick actions for this hurricane to his skeerdy-cat actions on the morning (hell, the whole day) of September 11th?

Will they make a big story of how his help (that we all pay for, btw) for Florida might translate in to votes?

1. I think this response is political
I can't recall any place being classified a disaster area before the fact. If FEMA did this consistently I would applaud since it would get help to the people who need it quicker. I doubt this would've happened in a less electorally important state.

3. Jeb was requesting $16 billion...
before the damage was even totaled up, even before it had all happened. I wonder how much of that will be siphoned off for pet projects.

2. I saw a video of W last night
trying to talk about the hurricane. Betweens the ahs and aws, he made absolutely no sense at all. A real leader doesn't become incoherent in the face of an emergency. He's totally useless.

5. Jury is out on "quick response"...
We're still in damage assessment. I'm not sure anyone knows the scale of the effort that will be needed.

If looters descend, will there be enough National Guard to maintain order?

Look at how they underestimated/screwed up the cleanup/restoration of Iraq.

6. oh yeah? how about the California wildfires?

This was purely political. He refused to help California enact preventative measures because they are a Dem state with a Dem governor at the time.

What an asshole.

I don't want to deny Florida the help they need, but he is obviously after their votes.
