Anybody see the foreign corespondent on C-Span this AM?
He said Europeans consider all the flag waving and hoopla to be the beginning of fascism. He said it scares Europeans and they don't understand it. He also said Europeans consider Americans to be dumb. He said they (Europeans) love America and consider it their number one tourist destination but consider the people here dumb because we elect leaders like Bush* and follow in the path of Hitler. He also said that they don't think Kerry is much different than Bush* except Smarter, but the policies will remain the same. He seemed right on about most everything except this and I hope he is mistaken on this one.

2. He's right about the people who voted for Bush being dumb.
There are the elitists who did so for capitalistic advantages, but they aren't enough in numbers to carry an election. There were a lot of underprivileged but dumb people who voted for him because they fell for the propaganda they were being fed about liberals. That's just plain dumb.

10. Not dumb. Ignorant, lazy patriots.
Lazy patriots -- because being a true patriot means you have to work extra hard these days to inform yourself about the corporate press, and then to get past that to find true unbiased news sources, and then finally to realized all news has some bias, and it takes a lot of effort to read enough from truly different sources in order to get some idea of what the real truth might be.

3. In Bavaria, where I live, you can often see the old '40s flagholders
on the sides of houses, buildings in various villages, but no flags. I almost never see a German flag waving anywhere, unless on base, next to the American flag.

Same in the Czech Republic, only a lot of the buildings there have two flagholders, for the Czech and Soviet flags. Again, flags are only flown there on very very special occasions.

The Swiss wave their flag a lot, and so do the Swedes.

4. This commentary is in line what I've heard many times over the
BBC World Service. Most recently last week. Although the person being interviewed said they thought more attention would be paid to the Middle East Peace process. But overall, they don't expect much difference in policy, partly because the Congress won't be on board (Repug) and the country itself won't be open to major change. Person said that Kerry, on Kyoto, for example, would work "around it"---making moves without fighting to pass Kyoto to improve environmental cooperation. He would use similar tactics to make his changes in other areas....

5. it's always been my feeling too.
that Kerry is not much different than Bush. He was going nowhere before the primaries and then all of a sudden BOOM! Kerry is the front runner. That doesn't happen by chance. Someone big and powerful is behind it. They know bush is a loser and the American people and the world are fed up with him. So I think the powers that be decided to shove another Bones-man to the forefront to step in in his stead.

At this point I'm supporting Kerry and hopefully when he is in office, the race to Fascism will be slowed down. I hope the foreign correspondent and I are both wrong about this.

8. They must refine their fear and pinpoint it.
Edited on Sat Aug-14-04 01:55 PM by higher class
They need to be afraid of the evangelicals and rapturists.

They need to be afraid of the banking-military-media=intelligence-constitution revisionists - they run in a pack and dictate to the mouth of Bush - even advising how to walk with a swagger, talk with a swagger, and smirk.

They need to be afraid of our gun lovers and abortion haters who 'exceed excess' - and who may not also be rapturists and evangelicals.

They need to be afraid of our crumbling politics. Our Senators and Congresspeople are not doing their job because they are partners with the banking-military=media=intelligence-constitution revisionists.

They need to wonder about solid citizen republicans who cling to their reason for remaining loyal - blind adherence to lies such as less government and sound fiscal policy. They need to fear the inability of this group to open their eyes, ears, and minds.

There are many of us who don't fall into these categories. We are disorganized.

9. He also said only in America do we confuse the President with the Country
He said Bush* was like a Monarch and a Prime Minister rolled into one. He said folks in america unlike any other country seem to feel the President is the country . Europeans can not relate to that other than by remembering Hitler.

11. One of JFK's close friends made a statement after the assassination...
he said Americans needed to revere an ideal rather than a person. I wish I could quote it.

Attack politics would change dramatically.
