Registering to vote in college
If your home address is in a swing state, register there.
If you go to an out of state college in a swing state, register there.

If both, register in the more important state

2. Good post ....
it is essential that the democratic party concentrate on registering college students. The bulk of that responsibility goes to other students, but faculty and other "non-students" should be investing time and effort in this, too. I hope you keep posting this very important message. Thank you.

3. I think John Engler screwed the college students in Michigan
Didn't he and his right wing legislator buddies ram through a law that made it illegal for college students to vote in the town where they go to college. I guess he wants them all to have to drive/fly home to vote, unless by chance, he's trying to prevent college students from voting.

5. same law in williamsburg, VA
they didn't start enforcing it until some college students tried to change residency so they could run for city council.

6. Those laws are unconstitutional
Contact Rock the Vote... they're looking to lean on communities that have laws like that.

7. mtv's rock the vote people already covered it
surprisingly, it's not a democratic party vs. republiccan party thing. In Billyburg, it's Old vs. Young. There are so many old people in that town that I feel like I've accidentally landed in Florida.

8. Did they cover the issue, or this instance?
If they covered this instance, is there anyone leaning on the town council yet?

10. they covered the instance.
interviewed the students running for council and the city registrar. the registrar says he's just doing his job, following the law and his hands are tied.
that's bullshit, because he's never tried to enforce it until just recently. MTVnews totally called him on that by interviewing kids who had no problem registering in the previous year.
Still, nothing came of it.
