NY Times lets the lunatic, Christopher Hitchens, do an anti-Kerry rant.
This was not a relaxed Sunday morning. Today's NY Times Book Review section has a review on three books about John Kerry (one written by Kerry himself). However, the reviewer, chosen by some brain-challenged editor, was Christopher Hitchens. (Why didn't this editor just give Karl Rove two pages on which to rant?)

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/15/books/review/15HITCHEN.html

I don't know whether Hitchens was drunk when he wrote the review, but it had very little to do with the books he was "supposedly" reviewing. Instead, it was a two page anti-Kerry diatribe which at one point actually compared Kerry's abuse of the English language to Bush's. (Want to see abuse of the English language? Try today's "Doonesbury.")

Jeeeez, get your brains in gear and get a letter off to the NY Times Book Review (Sunday) section. I'm about to get started on my own letter. (I don't yet have the email address for the Sunday Book Review section, so hopefully, someone will be kind enough to post it.)

When the NY Times Book Review practices this sort of intellectual dishonesty, what hope is left for us.

And, oh yeah. May Christopher Hitchens fall into a very deep vat of scotch and leave the rest of the people on this planet to live without his rancorous rantings.

2. we need Hitch in Iraq now!!!
Hitch needs to use his great humanitarian instincts in Iraq-let him negotiate the surrender of Al Sadr-I am sure he will be warmly welcomed by the people he freed.

3. I think you have the makings

Of a mildly funny comedy movie.

"Commands in slurred Arabic from the paunchy slick haired man drew a response punctuated with gun play. He thought his words would be respected. He thought his reasonable request of 'the laying down all arms', in his mind showed an impeccable command of the language. As bullets and RPGs answered his barked words again it became clear he was in deeper than he wanted to be in a land of sand vipers, Satanic heat and one of lacking good Scotch."

To wit:
"May Christopher Hitchens fall into a very deep vat of scotch and leave the rest of the people on this planet to live without his rancorous rantings."

Thanks for a good laugh, Cyrano et.al.
