ACT TO HOLD NATIONAL MEETING IN CLEVELAND THIS WEEKEND
August 12, 2004, 03:02 PM
America Coming Together (ACT), the largest voter mobilization effort in history, will hold its national meeting in Cleveland this weekend, August 13-15. More than 500 ACT staff from across the country will converge on Cleveland for a weekend session of meetings to prepare them for their fall voter mobilization campaign.
Illinois State Senator Barack Obama, former Texas Governor Ann Richards, former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, and SEIU President Andy Stern will each deliver remarks throughout the weekend sessions.
“I can’t think of a better place to have our national meeting than in one of the most important battleground states in this election,” said ACT CEO Steve Rosenthal. “This will be a fun and productive weekend for everyone at ACT, and we’re honored that Senator Obama and Governors Richards and Dean will be joining us.”
In addition to hearing from the keynote speakers and meeting to discuss the group’s voter mobilization program for the fall campaign, the entire ACT national staff will participate in a canvass of Cleveland voters on Saturday morning.
“We’re ready to put them to work,” said ACT-Ohio state director Steve Bouchard. “This is a great opportunity for us to reach out to a lot of Ohio voters, while showing ACT staff from around the country why Cleveland rocks!”
