NPR just did a story on Chavez vote today. Said we'd hear both sides of...
Edited on Sun Aug-15-04 06:38 PM by AP
...the story.

They questioned Martin Kaste, their REPORTER in VZ for a minute or so (who is consistently useless so far as informing the public about anything goes). Then they interviewed an anti-Chavez guy for what seemed like twice as long. Then they started a story about Tutsis and Hutus.

Whazza?

Where's the other side of the story????

2. I've noticed that NPR has been getting overly conservative these days
I use to enjoy listening to NPR in the mornings, but I've been aghast at some of the right slants they have been giving to stories. I hated when NPR invaded my very liberal radio station years ago, and this hasn't helped my feelings about them any bit. NPR is getting harder and harder to distinguish from the other news agencies these days. :hippie:

4.  NPR: Thinking Person's Propaganda...
NPR used to be a non-commercial, straight shooting news organization.

The Right found that very threatening, so they cut Federal funding and made them reach out to corporations for support.

Sooo... market forces took hold and now NPR offers corporate propaganda specifically aimed at a more urbane, upscale market segment.

Sad really. Like watching your grandmother turn to alcoholism after a long, productive life.
