Wall Street Journal article on Sandy Berger
Can someone link to it?

This crap appeared in my local paper today:

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=12698722&BRD=2271&PAG=461&dept_id=462943&rfi=6

Typical liberal trick

To the editor:

Charles Thompson wrote that I must have missed the report in the Wall Street Journal that said Sandy Berger had been completely exonerated. I did miss it, so I went back through the back copies from the last couple of weeks of the Journal. Couldn't find it. So, I called the newsroom of the Wall Street Journal and they did a computer search and could not find the article. Mr. Thompson, would you please let us know the date and page this article ran?

I believe this is a typical liberal trick of saying something and thinking no one will check. Well, I did and I don't think it exists for a couple of reasons. Berger is still under investigation by several government agencies for the removal of top secret papers from a secure location. So even if he did not do it he has not been cleared yet.

The other reason? HE ADMITTED TO IT. He just says those documents wound up in his pants by mistake. Mr. Thompson, I look forward to reading the article.

*let me know what you guys think before I email it....

"Typical conservative paranoia"

In the Sunday, August 15th edition of The Progress-Index's Peoples Forum, Mr. Edward Nugent bemoans liberals and Mr. Charles Thompson of "tricks" in regards to the Wall Street Journal's article on the exoneration of Sandy Berger because he cannot find said piece. He stated that he went through the back copies of the Journal and even went so far as to call the newsroom of the Wall Street Journal and found no such article for his efforts. I found this quite hard to swallow.

Perhaps if Mr. Nugent had access to a computer he could easily have used a search engine, such as Google, and learned that the article appeared in the Friday, July 30th edition of the Wall Street Journal with the title "Berger Exonerated in Withholding of Information From 9/11 Commission" written by Scot J. Paltrow. It might not only save him future embarassment, but he may just learn something.

3. your response looks good to me.
the article clearing him was on page 12 of the WSJ, fwiw. as opposed to the articles smearing berger up and down the front page.

7. See if you can tighten up the first paragraph a bit
There's a LOT of verbiage to wade through to get to your actual point: the correct infomatin in the 2nd paragraph. See if you can cut it down some.
