CSPAN: first caller mentions FBI, Nazis, cointelpro in first sentence
did you hear about the NY Times story about the FBI, going after people? can't find it in google news, but they're ''investigating potential political troublemakers'', as the hostess said, claiming to be looking for possible violence.

article is titled "FBI looking for political troublemakers". this includes PAST demonstrators, and others, including FAMILY members! she read a little bit from it, and it's STUNNING

the caller, by the way used that word to start off, then said it reminded him of Nazi Germany, cointelpro, and its utter incompetence/complicity in covering up the aftermath of 911.

He talked about Sibel Edmonds, Indira Singh, and how their testimony was stifled, covered up, etc., and how illegalities were committed by FBI people themselves.

there was some more, including an attempt to mention DU, but he, make that ME, got got off.

anybody hear that?

1. hahahahaahha..........idiot caller from Mississippi
says Bush is great, Bush is good, that the FBI should be doing what it's doing, and that ONLY families who had those killed should be able to call in, cause he KNEW they'd be in favor of FBI/Bush. THEN he started in on abortion, saying that EVERY Day three thousand babies would be killed if Kerry wins!

then, the best: a woman who lost somebody in the towers called in RIGHT after, saying that she thinks of the GESTAPO when she hears the story today. THEN she repeated the story about Bush appearing at that Long Island memorial for the WTC dead, the one where they had to build walkways to keep his feet from touching the ground.

hahahahahhaha

4. thanks! googlenews SUCKS!
as does google

what are they thinking about?

this is so disgusting; beyond words; from the Times:

"We vetted down a list and went out and knocked on doors and had a laundry list of questions to ask about possible criminal behavior," he added. "No one was dragged from their homes and put under bright lights. The interviewees were free to talk to us or close the door in our faces."

But civil rights advocates argued that the visits amounted to harassment. They said they saw the interrogations as part of a pattern of increasingly aggressive tactics by federal investigators in combating domestic terrorism. In an episode in February in Iowa, federal prosecutors subpoenaed Drake University for records on the sponsor of a campus antiwar forum. The demand was dropped after a community outcry.

Protest leaders and civil rights advocates who have monitored the recent interrogations said they believed at least 40 or 50 people, and perhaps many more, had been contacted by federal agents about demonstration plans and possible violence surrounding the conventions and other political events.

"This kind of pressure has a real chilling effect on perfectly legitimate political activity," said Mark Silverstein, legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Colorado, where two groups of political activists in Denver and a third in Fort Collins were visited by the F.B.I. "People are going to be afraid to go to a demonstration or even sign a petition if they justifiably believe that will result in your having an F.B.I. file opened on you."

6. caller: if FBI wants to find violence instigators, they should
look in the law enforcement departments! cites Florida/ WTO demonstrations, Europe, Seattle

great call. hostess looked puzzled, as she did when Bush supporter said it was GREAT what the FBI was doing, as she supports a one part state, with no checks and balances against Ashcroft, so he can do whatever he wants. hostess then asked if caller was really a Bush supporter! she said, yes, then more sarcasm

too funny

15. Don't forget the Ringsred brothers were arrested at a Bush rally
http://www.startribune.com/stories/462/4902095.html

On July 13, Odin Ringsred, one of the twins, pasted his shaggy hair to one side and painted a Hitler mustache on his face. While Bush was inside the arena speaking to 7,000 supporters, Odin was outside, holding a handmade sign that had the president's name and swastikas on it. It wasn't very subtle. But it was within the rights of Americans who object to the direction their country is going and who want to jab Republicans for blindly supporting the president (that's how Odin sees them).

One of the president's supporters went bonkers when he saw Odin's cardboard sign and grabbed it. The guy tried to tear the sign in two, but he didn't have the hand strength. Odin grabbed it back, and there was some more jostling as the guy tried to push Odin behind him and Odin squirmed back in front of him to wave the sign. Curses started flying, along with insults from all sides, including from the so-called grownups.

"They were yelling, 'Go back to your meth lab,' " Miles says. " 'Get a job,' 'Baby killers' -- things like that."

Miles, it must be noted, was wearing a dress, which he figured was another sure-fire way to irritate Republicans. There is nothing like a teenager for understanding how to needle an adult.

9. Domestic Terrorism
Watch your butts, folks, it's getting into full swing now. About the only variable left is if it will be prisons, concentration camps, execution, or if they'll be happy with McCarthy-esque financial and social ruin. Regardless, we're looking at the Final Solution to political unrest.

Damn, I am REALLY going through tinfoil like water these days.

14. more than you could possibly want to know
http://www.icdc.com/~paulwolf/cointelpro/cointel.htm

COINTELPRO is an acronym for a series of FBI counterintelligence programs designed to neutralize political dissidents. Although covert operations have been employed throughout FBI history, the formal COINTELPRO's of 1956-1971 were broadly targeted against radical political organizations. In the early 1950s, the Communist Party was illegal in the United States. The Senate and House of Representatives each set up investigating committees to prosecute communists and publicly expose them. (The House Committee on Un-American Activities and the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee, led by Senator Joseph McCarthy). When a series of Supreme Court rulings in 1956 and 1957 challenged these committees and questioned the constitutionality of Smith Act prosecutions and Subversive Activities Control Board hearings, the FBI's response was COINTELPRO, a program designed to "neutralize" those who could no longer be prosecuted. Over the years, similar programs were created to neutralize civil rights, anti-war, and many other groups, all said to be "communist front organizations." As J. Edgar Hoover, longtime Director of the FBI, put it

The forces which are most anxious to weaken our internal security are not always easy to identify. Communists have been trained in deceit and secretly work toward the day when they hope to replace our American way of life with a Communist dictatorship. They utilize cleverly camouflaged movements, such as peace groups and civil rights groups to achieve their sinister purposes. While they as individuals are difficult to identify, the Communist party line is clear. Its first concern is the advancement of Soviet Russia and the godless Communist cause. It is important to learn to know the enemies of the American way of life.

The FBI conducted more than 2000 COINTELPRO operations before the the programs were officially discontinued in April of 1971, after public exposure, in order to "afford additional security to sensitive techniques and operations."
