McCain's stumping for Bush makes no sense at all. The joke is that only a scenario as crazy as this would come close to explaining it. Your post well captures the bizarreness of the whole situation. It doesn't make sense that a man who was imprisoned, tortured, etc. is now supporting a man who pulled such dirty tricks against him 4 years ago.
