Rightwing opposition to Chavez claims electronic voting fraud!
I didn't know they were going to use bbvs in this referendum! Were these machines sold by the same rightwing companies that supply them in the US, and were they paperless?? This is a real mystery to me because I would have assumed that if they were rigged it would have been to the opposition's advantage! Btw, I don't think Chavez rigged them. Maybe he just kept the thugs from stealing the election!

2. i read here on DU that...
the machines they were using printed a paper ballot and deposited said ballot in the ballot box after verification by the voter.

5. That's why the thugs couldn't steal the election.
Thank goodness they had a papertrail! Do you know what companies supplied the machines?

11. Chavez tossed out one of the US big three and used a European company.

3. Gee, you mean even the right now believes those things can be rigged?
And they will use that argument when it suits their purposes and the opposite argument when it suits them?

I'm shocked, shocked, I say, to learn that the political right would be so dishonest and hypocritical.

Pre-election forecasts showed Chávez winning easily and he did. If the actual results were wildly out of line with scientific surveys, then there would be reason to smell a rat. They're isn't.

Chávez won. The Frat Boy and his supporters in Venezuela will just have to deal with it.

4. When, not if, Kerry wins they'll squeal just a loud!
But I must say I'm pleased that the thugs in Venezuela couldn't pull off a bbv theft. You know they tried!

6. When Kerry wins . . .
When Kerry wins, they'll claim the people stole the election from God.

7. Re the paper trail: Damned if they win - Damned if they lose...
If they check the paper trail and find Chavez won, they've legitimatized the election.

If they check the paper trail and find Chavez LOST, they've proved conclusively the value of a paper trail.

14. Exactly. If they check the paper trail AT ALL, they will confirm the
problems with BBV.

But they know they lost, so they won't check the paper trail.

However, just whining, "He cheated!" too loudly could pose trouble for coming US election fraud. So I don't expect to see much whining.

17. Sounds familiar:
If they attack the Imam ali shrine, the enrage millions of Shia
If they back down from the attack they demonstrate weakness and defeatability...

Not too many good chess players in the Bush adminstration. I guess they were too busy drinking whiskey and screwing mid price whores.

19. that's not new
the RW has always been quick to question voting integrity, whether there's a problem or not. The idea is to lessen confidence in our voting system.

And with BBV, it has the additional benefit of diverting attention from KNOWN, PROVEN problems like punch cards and intimidation tactics and other old-fashioned ways to disenfranchise people.

I read on DU recently that somewhere he alleged that the Democrats have been conspiring to steal this election. :wtf:

Let's have them take those machines apart and see if they find them verifiable.

18. Rightwing opposition to Kerry claims electronic voting fraud!
Coming soon to an election near you!

It would be just like them to rig BBV only to lose anyway and then whine about it being rigged.
