Poll question: Generally Speaking - How should a congressperson vote

Remember, no obsoletes here, but generally speaking. Do you think a congressperson should vote their conscience nearly every time, or should they vote the opinion of the majority of their constituency.

Personally, I think members of congress either vote their conscience (as fucked up as their beliefs might be) or vote for the good of the party far too often. Sometimes it's unfortunate, but the fact is, they're there as a representative of their state or district. If the majority of your district wants you to vote in favor of one thing, or oppose another, are you not somewhat obligated to do so?

2. Tough question to answer...

Gut reaction is to say 'vote your constituency, it's your job.' On the other hand, think about the average level of political/economic/international knowledge that most of your constituents have. Do you trust them to make decisions on things they probably know much less about than you do, given your ready access to a multitude of sources within Washington/economic/political analysts? Does that make sense to anyone else?
