6. Are all these prices by the gallon?
Because I sure would like to be able to buy Bertolli olive oil for only $6.99 a gallon.

8. Tap water: $0.01 $0.55/barrel
Evian: A scam, and 'naive' spelled backwards.

Maple syrup, olive oil and OJ are all worth the price IMO.

9. I have seen similar posts and e-mails
but while it may seem like it should be impressive and make people think "wow, I never looked at it this way" it really isn't. See, I need gas every week or every other week at minimum. I don't buy Jack Daniels or any other liquor by the barrel, nor do I buy juice in barrels. If I said I drink a barrels worth of juice in one whole year its probably an exaggeration. So the comparison isn't very realistic. This is not a knock on you--I know you didn't make this up because as I said I have seen similar ones before.

due to crime in DC to the death rate in Iraq.

13. Who uses 20 gallons of perfume a week??

This is just ridiculous.

You are being robbed blind at the gas pump. If you take this excuse seriously then the oil companies (and Bush and Cheney) are laughing their ass off at you all the way to the bank.

gawd, there really are some that seem to use four gallons a day, "just to keep it fresh" . . .

14. giving the price in gallons would be more effective
because none of the items, including gasoline, is bought by the barrel by consumers. Some of the items are purchased in fractions of gallons, however.

Who'd pay $4.99 for a six pack of Budweiser? Maybe someone whose tastebuds had been killed by trying to drink the cheaper gasoline as an alternative ...

19. Add to the price per gallon the costs that the taxpayer pays
indirectly and it starts to really get interesting. Keeping the oil wells operating in far-flung places don't come cheap.
