"The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle; and that too few political leaders today are making the case for global leadership. 8. elitist foreign policy group
based on u of chicago poli sci prof leo strauss' theories. called neo-conservatives because most of the movers & shakers were ONCE 'liberals' & are now conservative.

cheney
wolfowitz
perle

leo strauss paraphrase: religion is the opiate of the masses, and that's a GOOD THING.

they don't trust the common man ONE BIT. which is not so crazy considering the common man is an evangelical on crystal meth & hoarding guns.

11. If you look further, you can trace their roots to communism.
Irving Kristol, father of Bill Kristol (editor of Weekly Standard and a member of PNAC) is considered the godfather of neoconservatism. He use to be a Trotskite, a branch of communism.

erm... kinda depends what you mean by that
Edited on Tue Aug-17-04 07:38 PM by K-W
The foriegn policy ideas can be traced to empire building throughout history.

These specific people and this specific ideology can be traced to a group of 'intellectuals' the roots of which were at one point into Trotsky. They then became ardently anti-communist, which has informed thier current ideology much more.

There are traces of the their particular brand of communist thought in what they believe now, almost solely in strategy, not goals or ideology.

If the intent of your post was commie bashing, shame on you. If not, my mistake.

21. That is why we have the shift from
an electoral process of governance to an electoral process that determines' moral issues and political correctness. BTW the repugs started the politically correct movement when Jimmy Carter was Pres.

9. don't feel dumb,
unfortunately, you're just one of most americans who don't know what the PNAC is.

in short, the project for a new american century is the number ONE reason we invaded iraq, and will invade iran next.

their mission is maintaining the world order of america at the top... by any means necessary. they also want american control in the arab world.

they're ruled by neoconservative think, and began planning for the iraq invasion (and a bush jr. presidency) in 1999.

they're dangerous. they're ruthless. and they need to be exposed.

i wish michael moore had told his audience about them.

12. There are no stupid questions...especially when acronyms are involved
Unfortunately most people don't know about PNAC. It's interesting having a crystal ball for this administration...it's odd that people don't talk about it more often.

I won't provide the link since other DUers have already, but I am interested in hearing your take on it after you read all the info.

18. You know those organizaitons in spy movies...
The megalomanical ones bent on world domination?
This is one. In real life.
Although they don't have cool looking uniforms.

Funny, it was the freepers who always complain about the UN and their supposed "new world order" when it was happening right under their noses.

20. PBS Frontline had a good coverage of this. Can be viewed streaming,
link below:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/iraq/view/

Jay Bookman of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote an excellent summary piece about PNAC for his paper, including a good rundown on the various rogue's gallery of characters, which was reprinted at the link below:

http://www.countercurrents.org/us-bookman080503.htm

It's a pretty easy read.
