See what I mean about "independent" voters
A Letter writer in this morning's edition of The Des Moines Register says:
"As an independent and undecided voter,
I am currently being treated as one of the most valuable
commodities in the free world.(-snip-)
I am a person who finds the extreme right and the extreme
left of the political chart to be scary places.
The two current presidential candidates represent both of those scary places.(-snip-)
I will either not vote for president or at
the last minute vote against the candidate
I least want in office.

I would like to be able to vote "for" a presidential candidate.
The last time I did that was for Ronald Reagan."(emphasis added)
-M____ S______,
Cumberland.

While I concur with M.S. that George W. Bush is the most extreme right wing politician we have had the misfortune to endure within living memory, I hardly think John Kerry's politics qualifies him as a wild-eyed Trotskyite. Personally, Kerry's much to "middle-of-the-road" for my tastes! But he is the Democratic Party's candidate, therefore,I support him in whatever small way I can (mostly through small monetary contributions these days.)

But the reason I post M.S.'s letter-to-the-editor is that it illustrates my opinion of a many so-called "independent" voters: Republicans who are too lazy to volunteer and/or too cheap to donate to a candidate of their choice.

BTW, M.S., thanks for not voting for Bush. That guarantees that my vote for Kerry won't be canceled out by yours.

1. Undecided Voter=Uninformed Voter. It's an easy choice if you're informed.

4. This is what I always say to "undecideds"
"People, these guys are night and day, wtf do you need to "think" about?"

The above letter-writer gets all their information from campaign commercials, and because they actually watch them, they consider themselves "informed."

2. See what I mean about "independent" voters
This is the one time in my life that I agree with Ann Coulter on something...people who aren't either Democrats or Republicans (esp. in this election) are just plain idiots. x(

8. This independent voter is not undecided, nor an "idiot"
all it means is that I do not belong to any political party.
I can't think of any point that I would agree with Ann Coulter on.
Welcome to DU.

5. And will she vote?
Or, like M.S., let me decide who the next president is and then bitch about Kerry for the next four years?

If you're undecided at this stage in the game you haven't been paying attention.

9. People are independents because they are too left or too right for the
party too. So I don't think they have monolithic veiws.
