Daley's excuse for beating the protesters
Will they use the same reasons???

Notice the use of the word "terrorists"

The delegates had more chutzpa than the cops on this

Free speech zones anyone

I was only standing in my door....
Innocent bystanders were beaten;
has anything changed????

Tear Gas

More Tear Gas

Hippies in an overcoat and suit pants?????

2. Lol those damn hippies!
It's just great to see that used as a perjorative, and to trivialize their message.

3. I was 10 years old at the time.
But I recall the news stories vividly. I can still recall a protester being interviewed by a reporter (when reporters knew how to do their jobs). He had been beaten and was all bloody and was recounting what had happened to the reporter. He was all shaken up and said that he had not been violent towards anyone and they just started beating him. I wonder where all those people are today and what they are doing.

4. At the time I thought

that they were "bad people" for not doing what the nice policemen told them to do.

In retrospect,as much as I want to see the Demonstrations in NY peaceful, I recall how uninformed I was about Vietnam. Those getting their heads smashed were patriots IMO. They dared to take a stand "by any means necessary" to wake up America.

Most Americans were asleep then.
About 40%,if you believe the BushCO owned polls, are asleep now.

5. I remember one picture
that I can't find where the cops drove their harley's through the crowds of divinity students & their families. They had their blankets spread out in Lincoln Park and were not hurting anyone at all.
