why christians must vote republican.......at raptureready
http://www.raptureready.com/republican.html

article states Jesus would be neither democrat nor republican.

it ends with the following statement about the duty of true christians--

Because we will all have to given account of our lives, it is very important to realize the choices we make in the privacy of a voting booth will someday need to be defended before the open thrown of God.

All end-time minded Christians should know that at some point in the future freedom and liberty will be surrendered to a global government.

The Bible tells us the God of this world is the devil. The influence of Satan is the reason why 90 percent of the press and Hollywood elite are liberals who vote exclusively for the Democrat Party. The one-minded eagerness of the left to influence the electral process should act as a warning sign to the conservative base of this nation.

You can be a perfectionist and find a hundred things wrong with the Republicans. It is serierous error to try compare a flondering friend to a deadly enemy.

Human government will never be able to solve the world's problems. Their will never be true peace until the Prince of Peace establishes His Milennial Kingdom. That understood, until the Lord Jesus comes for His Church in the Rapture -- presuming both major political parties in America continue to hold to their present party lines -- it is the view of Rapture Ready that Republican values are America's best political option.

8. Apparently they take it as reason to vote against anyone who will
try to honestly solve problems or bring peace, because that is not what their Gawd intended. Anyone who wants people to live without misery and strife is clearly a minion of Satan.

4. Considering the LAST TIME Church and State were merged in the West
was Medeval Europe, I'm not so sure we want to try to reproduct that particular experiment.

Of course, I have no doubt these Dominionist think quite positively and wistfully back to the days of Witch Burning where a man could beat his wife and falsely accuse a liberal, getting them burnt alive, without fear.

:puke: :puke:

The Deist Founding Fathers would have loved these Witch Burners, wouldn't they?

6. Well, for Heaven's Sake
Don't you know anything!

Burning people at the stake is done for their own good. It is the only way to save their souls from eternal damnation.

So, if anyone asks, tell them you choose damnation.

14. I have heard...
Edited on Wed Aug-18-04 03:35 PM by VTMechEngr
that burning at the stake in some places (Britain) was not to purify the soul, but to ready the victim for the fires of Hell. Nothing is more amazing than Man's inhumanity to his fellow man.

On edit: Britain, not Britian:think:

9. these people are blatantly schizophrenic
What else can you call a bunch of people that believe in the literal truth of a book multiply translated over 200 centuries and shown to be written as anecdotes sometimes passed down centuries before being recorded, people who believe in supernatural beings who are all-powerful in an infinite universe but apparently have nothing better to do than to specifically meddle in everyone's lives, people who actually think that someone who died 2000 years ago is going to come back and select them specifically to float into the air...?
It's about time we started recognizing the fact that Dominionism isn't a religion, it's a form of brain damage.

22. seriously!
take a look at their forums and the amount of people who claim to have been given instructions when god speaks to them - some seem pretty harmless and probably don't actually hear voices, but plenty do and some of them need serious psychiatric help - as well as the hearing voices telling them what to do lot there's a bunch of people who can't wait for the end of the world because they are clearly suffering from chronic depression, it'd be hilarious were it not so sad

What is up with that? I don't understand it.

Whenever I see a site that says that I'm evil, I fire back a nasty response. I am a Democrat and a Christian. Rapture Ready is full of people who are obviously very, very misled.

15. Why They Must Not
If human government will never be able to solve the world's problems, then somebody needs to tell George W. that he's wasting his time immediately. The trouble with the so-called religious Republicans are that their minds are so narrow and closed that the blood vessels in their brains are about ready to burst. They need to go see "Fahrenheit 9-11", read up on REX 84-FEMA and American Holocaust, etc... to realize just where their End Times, one world government is coming from. They're supporting it by voting for Bush, they're going to full fill the prophesies themselves by making the wrong choice at election time. Anybody who thinks stripping the disabled, the elderly, and veterans of what they need to survive - how can they live each day with a clean conscious? To close their eyes to the real problems of our country and our people by ignoring them completely - yeah, that's definitely real Christian-like. They apparently aren't getting the message that Jesus and the Bible is trying to teach them - don't judge others, keep the peace, love your neighbor, thou shalt not kill, etc... I'm sorry, but Jesus died for our sins, nobody is perfect, and I think Bush and all he represents is a helluva lot more evil than any politician I have ever seen out of all the Presidents combined. I'll take my chances with Kerry. While the Repubs day dream about Heaven, the rest of us still have to get by down here on this Earth until Jesus does return again. As long as you don't let them brand a 666 into your forehead, I don't think any of us Democrat Christians will be condemned for our voting decisions. O8) P.S. They said Jesus hung with the wrong crowd, too. You can change the world by your example.

16. These people ignore the words of Jesus
...nearly completely in favor of the chiliast fantasies dreamed up by others who never met Christ.

"Blessed are the meek"--"blessed are the peacemakers"--"Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me"--"turn the other cheek"--"love thy neighbor as thyself"--all gone in favor of the coming Big Guy With A Sword.

They can't accept Jesus any more than the Pharisees could--a rabbi who shunned wealth and power in favor of justice and service to one's fellow man. They needed a giant king in golden armor who would literally kill millions, as opposed to a teacher and healer who would change people's spirits.

Next time you enter into dialogue with these people, quote the story of the Sheep and the Goats to them (Matthew 21:31-45). Jesus says explicitly that when he returns at the Last Judgment, he's going to ask them 'What kindness did you do? What things did you do for the poor and unfortunate?" And THAT's the basis on whether you sit at his right hand or burn in hell.

They'll get all angry and start quoting Paul at you and talking about 'justification by faith'. Then you say unto them "These are the actual words of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and you stand here trying to explain them away."

These people are not the followers of Christ. They're the same people that betrayed him.

17. "(Jesus) would not lower Himself to vote in a humanist election"

That is just SO vile!

Yeshua bar Yussef lowered himself to sit with tax collectors, publicans, sinners... He lowered himself to the point of a vile, ignominious, agonizing death! He lowered himself to become the servant of the world, the sacrifice of all! It was/is his perfect humility, his grace and death that MADE the Xtian religion flourish!

Aaaarrrggggghhhh!!!!

Man, that would make for a good band name.

And I really hope that "milennial" kingdom comes with a flonderin' spellchecker.

21. Another View by Campolo

http://www.beliefnet.com/story/150/story_15052_1.html

Well, there's a difference between evangelical and being a part of the Religious Right. A significant proportion of the evangelical community is part of the Religious Right. My purpose in writing the book was to communicate loud and clear that I felt that evangelical Christianity had been hijacked.

When did it become anti-feminist? When did evangelical Christianity become anti-gay? When did it become supportive of capital punishment? Pro-war? When did it become so negative towards other religious groups? . . .

We also raise some very serious questions about the support of policies that have been detrimental to the poor. When I read the voter guide of a group like the Christian Coalition, I find that they are allied with the National Rifle Association and are very anxious to protect the rights of people to buy even assault weapons. But they don’t seem to be very supportive of concerns for the poor, concerns for trade relations, for canceling Third World debts.
