1. Oh, what evil this war is!
I had a discussion with a friend of mine here at work. Her Marine brother is going to be deployed in Jan. I tried to make the point that one can never, ever support a war. War is killing and maiming and destruction. One can support the reasons for a war but not a war.

War robs us of men and women, babies, children, teachers, brothers, sisters, mothers, doctors - war's hand of death touches everyone.

2. My Son Just Got to Iraq...
Fortunately, he works in communications and not in the infantry. Unfortunately, that's little comfort to all of us who worry about Jack and all of the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

5. Welcome to DU-
Sorry to hear your baby is in Iraq.
I can't imagine it.
My prayers are with you and all who are
being dragged into this horrific period of history.

4. What a shame
Reminded me to take another look at WP's Faces of the Fallen (Updated as of 8/13, but doesn't include CPT Tarlavsky yet)

6. This is what people need to see
Every day, the faces of the people who are dying and being maimed. What a good looking young man! Every time I see something like this, it moves me to tears. Lots of them are younger than my two daughters...
