Freeper issues death threat to me on another board. Advice?

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should do.

I started a thread on a music discussion board about the situation in Najaf and the first reply was a picture of a gun and the words "Sounds like you need some 50 caliber asprin".

Am I wrong in taking this as a death threat?

What should I do?

alert the moderators of the board you posted to and see what they do with it.

Unless the person has some way of knowing who you are and where you live, you're probably ok. It sounds like some smart ass trying to piss you off.

4. Tell the owner of that board

Get them to do a /whois on the poster's IP number (or do it yourself if it's visible) and get their ISP's abuse email. Tell them about the threat and that guy won't be seeing the Internet through that provider again.

Take note though that most of these threats are made by big-mouths who have no intention on actually pulling such a thing out. If you have evidence that this person knows exactly where you live, however, you might want to contact authorities if you feel genuinely threatened. I suspect it's just a troll, however, and if it amuses you just follow the first paragraph and punk him.

They're the agency in charge of Internet crimes these days, when it's not a network intrusion, I think.

On Edit: The Secret Service appears to only have jursidiction over unauthorized access crimes.

Unless the jerk keeps pestering you with similar crap, it's quite pointless to respond in any way. This hardly counts as a credible threat, if they don't have access to your home address.

If the poster continues along this line of "discussion", refer them to an armed services enlistment center in their area.

Most of them are all mouth. Besides, they have deluded themselves into thinking all dems and indies are anti gun. 17. Report it. He should be banned fron the site. If that does not work,

file an FBI report. Most bullies are cowards as aer most people who follow through with violence. Not all threats lead to violence, but almost all violence is preceeded by threats. These kind of people are emboldened when they get away with threats.
