Repubs are weird, how can I subconsciously change her mind?
I talked with one today.

She hates how jobs are being outsourced.

She hates the high price of healthcare.

She hates the unemployment.

She hates the national debt.

She hates Wal-Mart.

And so on.

But she loves *, will readily vote for * again, and says * isn't to blame for everything that happens. (but he sure as hell could DO something about it, isn't that what government is FOR?)

She thinks the media is utterly biased to the liberal mindset. :wtf: I did get her to agree, reluctantly, that depending on the issue, the media will spin things either way (and from what I've seen, the media is mostly not liberal-biased, I need to ask her WHY she thinks the media is liberal-biased...)

* is allowing our country to plummet and she's still on her anti-liberal mindset. She'd just prefer not to talk about anything or think and just support * anyway.

IN-FRIGGING-SANE.

Now I can fault any politician for anything if I wanted. But then, I actually think compared to those who blindly support *.

Why can't she realize she is supporting a guy who could care less about saving this country, while bitching about all the problems that the republicans openly support?!

It boggles the mind.

1. an oldie but a goodie..
You know you're a Republican when you believe...

Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion.

...Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is Communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony.

...The United States should get out of the United Nations, and our highest national priority is enforcing U.N. resolutions against Iraq.

...A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation.

...Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton.

...The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay.

...If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex.

...A good way to fight terrorism is to belittle our long-time allies, then demand their cooperation and money.

...Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism.

...HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart.

...Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools.

...A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy.

...Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet.

...The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's driving record is none of our business.

...Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness and you need our prayers for your recovery.

...You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt.

...What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant.

3. Don't bother -
You might want to read "What's the matter with Kansas". It provides an understanding of why people vote against their own self interest. Pretty sure she is all about the cultural issues.

5. What's her Achilles Heel?
Everyone has one: abortion, employment, civil rights, national defense, etc. From what you wrote, it appears that hers is the economy. Therefore, you need to connect * to a faltering economy.

What's with this loyalty to politicians anyways? Shouldn't our loyalty be to our country and fellow citizens?

I turned my dad witht he argument that we need to be turning out every last politician in office; that they will not respond to the needs of the citizenry until they fear for their positions.

8. She feels sorry for * because of everything that's happening...
:wow:

Seems he's responsible for it, contrary to her belief.

And she surely could not have forgotten *'s support of corporate foreign offsourcing and blaming American workers directly (which is the biggest crock of an insult ever said of a president to the people he's supposed to lead.)

6. Have you asked how come Bush would be unable to do anything?
If she can give reasons for that, you have a way of gently changing her mind.

Point out to her that he has a republican house, repug senate, repug judges and a very friendly media.

If it is the economy, point out the economy ALWAYS does better under the dems. http://www.academycomputerservice.com/economics/charts.htm

The direction our foreign and economic policy is going, if Boosh is elected, you probably won't be able to find many Republicans.
