First I want to thank everyone who has already donated during this fund drive, and thank all of our ongoing monthly subscribers. The fund drive has been going pretty well so far, so we've been trying not to bother you all with too many posts for money. But you're not totally off the hook. :)

If you haven't donated during this week's fund drive, I ask that you please take a moment right now to donate to DU.

We depend on donations from our members to help us cover most of our monthly costs, which continue to increase. As the presidential campaign heats up, we've seen a steady increase in traffic to our site. We expect our traffic to continue increasing as we approach election day, and we're working hard to put in place the hardware and software infrastructure to handle it.

We're also working to make DU "campaign ready" for the fall. We already raised thousands of dollars for the Kerry/Edwards campaign. Thanks to all the hard work from dozens of DUers, we recently unveiled Campaign Underground, with lots of useful links and information. And in the next couple days we will finally unveil the long-awaited media blaster, and begin a coordinated grassroots campaign to help get the Democratic message out in local media across the country.

And of course, we'll continue to provide a meeting place where Democrats can get the news free from conservative bias, and discuss important issues with other like-minded individuals.

How much is Democratic Underground worth to you? Some days when I turn on the TV News, it seems like the country has gone completely insane and I'm the only one who sees it. Could you imagine what your life would be like without this amazing community of people? DU is like a lifeline for so many of us.

5. This is probably the worst year for me..found in contempt of court

in a trial in which I was a witness and the case was dismissed. I said to the judge...we want our day in court...she is innocent! I could have spent 10 days in jail..but only got a fine...$50.00 which turned into $127.00...the car broke down..and the other car used to pick up parts for the broke down car..broke down! Spent $240.00 to have a tune up...and tire on the first broke down car..and it broke down again...and I cannot even get to work to make money to pay for either broke down cars!!!

I would love to blame this on bush*..and have been trying to figure it out..but I cannot...damn another insult to injury!

I wanted to give a lot more, but my garage roof caved in and I just had to have a new roof at a price of $2,000. Luckily, I had someone who did the work at a reasonable price. Hope to be able to give more during the next fund-raiser, barring any more disasters.

Under GWB's economy, my husband was laid off from different jobs twice in three years...we had to move (downsize) to get out from under our previous mortgage, which we did two weeks ago. I told myself that after the move, one of the first things I would do would be to donate to DU...I wish it could be more, but I will continue to donate something at every drive. Thanks for this island of sanity (well mostly sanity) in a "wild and crazy" world. MKJ
