A report from the field:

I've been in professional development sessions this week. Yesterday, in a room of 25 teachers, we had an interesting assignment. We were given a list of 10 famous people and asked to rank them, 1 - 10, with 1 being best. We ranked them according to their level of interpersonal skills on a global level. It was not intended as a political activity or commentary; it was about defining and developing leadership and interpersonal skills in our classrooms. The 10 names were chosen because they were easily recognizable by most adults.

Who ranked the highest from the list given? Mother Theresa and Nelson Mandela tied for the #1 spot. Who ranked the lowest?




Tied for 10th place: Osama Bin Laden and George W. Bush.

Since we live in a very conservative area, I fully expected different results. The converations in the staff lounge were quite a bit different in 2002, at least as far as our international efforts went.
