Why Do Democracies Hate Us?
Edited on Thu Aug-19-04 08:20 PM by louis c
Canada, our neighbor to the North, boos our National Anthem at sporting events. Mexico, to the South, shows little cooperation. Spain, Germany, France, Portugal, India, Ireland and the Philippines, all have faced our wrath.

Even those who's governments are supposed to be our allies, such as Italy, Australia, and Great Britain, have out their leaders on notice that the end is near in the next election.

In the European Union elections, Blair's labor party ran third. In Italy, Berlasconi's party could muster less then 25% of the vote. In Australia, Howard knows his goose is cooked but can't figure out the right time to call a Parliamentary election. In all three nation's, the present government's polling numbers are dismal, as the voters in every democratic nation are voting against George Bush and his policies, by proxy.

On the other hand, Bush is doing just fine with Monarchies and Dictators. Jordan offered troops through its King (although I believe he is more two faced than an ally). Pakistan fights for democracy through its military dictator. Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, who rule as Royal Families are all on board in one degree or another.

Here's my point, how can a country that fights against Terror and for freedom have allies that are Kings, Emirs, and Dictators, and the chief opponents be long standing Democracies? I just don't get it.

How, in heaven's name, can Americans fall for this shit?

Democracy anymore. We are a threat to every country in the world. Nobody likes threats like that. Bush has been overbearing, arrogant, bullying, and dangerous. How would you react to the neighborhood bully who beats up on defenseless kids?

3. Its always been that way
America has never supported true democracy. It supports the current
status quo of wealth owners in any given country. That is not
democracy, and never has been.

There was a clinton period where people who never visited the USA
thought, that maybe, possibly, the american govrnment was "wise" and
that they should trust blindly the approach the american washington
consensus and neoliberal imperium were taking. That time is over.

The whole of the new roman empire is now passively or actively anti
"king" which is what bush and his rabble are after all the lies are
exposed. They are not even held account to vote counting in florida
for christ sakes, how the hell do you expect to support vote counting
somewhere else when american elections are systematic fraud?

There is a prodestant ethic, that we must go "help somebody" with our
wealth and power. This is a myth. Nobody needs help. If anyone
was concerned about democracy in ameirica, like the democratic party,
(ironic the name), then there should be a total end to gerrymandering, felony disenfranchisement, black voter purges,
and unequal rights for women and non-white or non-christian 0r non-
straight peoples. As it stands, both corporate parties support the
non-existant moral corporatosis, against the people's demos.

short version: Until you count your votes, you have no business
talking about democracy to anyone.

4. I don't think anyone "hates" you
Most people realise there is a difference between US citizens and US power. It's not an anti-American thing it's an anti abuse of power thing, if any other nation in the world has as much financial, military and strategic power they'd be doing the exact same thing, powerful nations always have and have always spouted hypocritical crap about assisting other nations when what they're actually doing is plundering them and killing those that get in the way.

PS - don't be so sure about Howard's goose being cooked, the guy is pure teflon - no matter how many times he's caught out lying nothing seems to stick, and frankly apart from a few small details Latham aint much better
