I've only gotten slacker medals compared to them, but even mine - even the ones I got as a civilian, came with the usual fanfare of one person pinning on the medal, and another reading the citation word for word like it was the most important thing in the world.

5. I still have my Army Commendation Medal

and citation from 1972 along with my Honorable Discharge. You just don't lose that stuff, especially something as prestigious as the Bronze Star.

6. No way is Thurlow telling the truth.

I was awarded the Bronze Star, and two Enemy Marksmanship Awards (AKA Purple Hearts) in 1971. I remember every word of my citations as well as the name of the officers who pinned them on my chest. Thurlow is lying.

My father received the bronze star in WWII for action in the Battle of the Bulge. He kept all his medals, ribbons and paperwork for it all of his life. He never talked about any of it, but I knew it was something that was very important to him. Thurlow is a lying ass and is just a RW tool.

my father kept all his WWII stuff until he died, and now my mother has it. All my uncles still have all of their awards, citations, HD, etc.
