I've been hearing this argument for months, but yesterday, it came up in a conversation with an in-law. He was arguing that Bush's campaign on terror, including the war in Iraq, is justified because we have not had any terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.

I told him that's like an alcoholic arguing that he's cured because he hasn't had any DUIs lately. But he continues to drink.

After that, the argument escalated.

They just seem to want to be in their own little world. Don't confuse them with the facts.

1. Ask him how many years

between the first attack on the WTC and the second. Unless he's also stupid when it comes to math, he'll realize that terrorists operations in this country happen years apart.

Show him the latest Harper's Index, which says that the number of al Qaeda before the Iraq war was less than a thousand, while today it is in the tens of thousands and ask him why he thinks so many have joined.

Of course, if he's one of those who thinks everyone should convert to his warped version of "Christianity" (put in quotes because I don't consider it to be Christian in any way shape or form) like Ann Coulter does, there's no point in even talking to him.

2. Mention that Clinton went 7 years after the first WTC attack

and they'll suddenly begin to parse what "US SOIL" means then bring up the USS Cole and the african embassies.. at which point you bring up all the attacks on our "US SOIL" bases in Iraq.

Furthermore, you can tell him that although there has not been a domestic attack, terrorism is on the increase throughout the world.

the last two are great because the show the DoS lied about the reports. Increased terrorism in the world means that America or American interests WILL BE attacked.

4. Ask him why we have 25% of the world's prison population

dining at our tax-free lodgings. Ask him if they are terrorized by
prison rape, torture and inhumane conditions.. and if this does not
count as terrorism.

Ask him if keeping an armed arsenal of nuclear weapons pointed at
other countries is terrorism. Ask him if we are closer or less close
to using that arsenal since the asshole stole the election.

Finally, ask him if he/she has had sex recently. It seems repukes
don't get laid enough, and the sperm builds up pressure so it goes
up their spine and fills the brain cavity, like a variant on CJD.
Ask him how much sperm would come out if his brain were drilled by
