Can somebody clarify "Tweety?"
I haven't had a television in years, so I am not familiar with a lot of the television talk shows and personalities you people often talk about here. I have seen a few episodes of CNNs Crossfire while doing cardio at the gym, so I know who Tucker Carlson is (I already knew who the other three were), but that's about it. I sometimes read transcripts of television shows on the net, and I've discovered from that what an idiot Sean Hannity is, but I generally don't get a lasting impression of the personalities.

One person occasionally refered to is "Tweety," who I have long understood to be a television personality but I had no idea who. I just watched a video somebody had linked to on DU where Chris Matthews confronts somebody named Michelle Malkin, and in the discussion of that video I saw somebody refering to Mr. Matthews as "Tweety."

So is Chris Matthews "Tweety?" What's his story? I assume since he is refered to as "Tweety" he's not well liked in these forums, but he sure looked like he was doing a good job with this Malkin person. Is he considered a conservative, liberal, or generally ineffectual media minion? Why do we call him "Tweety?"

2. This should clarify why he's called Tweety

And this should clairify why he's been on our side lately:

Below is the FULL exchange between Chris Matthews and John Kerry:
MATTHEWS: Do you think you belong in that category of candidates who more or less are unhappy with this war? The way it‘s been fought? Along with General Clark, along with Howard Dean, and not necessarily in companionship politically on the issue of the war with people like Lieberman, Edwards and Gephardt? Are you one of the anti-war candidates?

KERRY: I am. Yes. In the sense that I don‘t believe the president took to us war as he should have, yes. Absolutely. Do I think this president violated his promises to America? Yes, I do, Chris. Was there a way to hold Saddam Hussein accountable? You bet there was and we should have done it right.

This is what the RNC-related web video used:
MATTHEWS: Are you one of the anti-war candidates?
KERRY: I am. Yes.

Poor widdle Tweety got his feelings hurt by that mean old Republican National Committee--they're running a video of an edited question he asked Kerry on their web site. He's mad enough to become the next Arianna Huffington--hope you know who SHE is!

3. He's a center-right Liebermanesque democrat.
Used to work for Carter, wanted to work for Clinton, but after he was snubbed, he jumped on the Clinton-bashing bandwagon. He was pretty right-wing for most of the Bush years but seems to be drifting back towards the center lately.

He's prone to terrible fits of whorishness but can be surprisingly fair at times, Unlike Lil' Russ, who's ALL-whore, all the time.
