Hume said when reason is against a man
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 12:57 PM by NoMoreMrNiceGuy
the man will soon be against reason; if thought cannot rationalize desire into the semblance of logic, desire may, as a last resort, deny the authority of thought altogether. In a life based on hopes that far outdistance reason, it was to be expected that men would invent a logic, not of reason, that would justify their dreams.

Maybe these conservatives at the top actually believe the crap they spew and aren't just doing it for the money...which is even scarier.

1. Brit Hume said that? Dang, that sounds too smart for him
:P

Seriously, I do believe that some folks believe in the RW bullshit, much the same as when I used to think that if I rubbed a rabbit foot I would have good luck.

8. Yes,I know many people believe it but I was refering to those
at the top of the republican party...they are suppose to be smarter than the masses...but then again you shouldn't believe a person is smart just because he is successful. *ush, for one has destroyed that fallacy.

9. Sorry,you never can tell,especially since I don't know you...
guaranteed there are plenty of people out here who don't know who Hume was or Bruno,Protagoras,Hypatia, ect. It certainly wouldn't make them stupid if they didn't. I am certainly ignorant of many things.

Remember the Monty Python philosopher's drinking song.

"David Hume could outconsume..."

6. MANY Totalitarians believed the evil they spewed
Nazi, Soviets, Toton Macoute, Ferd Farcos, and so many other who are in the same general place as the Bush Imperial Family.

Many of them believe their own Lies, as it was with the Nazis, their spiritual antecedents.

7. Any In-Depth Analysis
of the Rightie Tightie Worldview would have to logically conclude that it held no merit for mankind, no hope for the world at large.

One would have to feel one was suffering from a severe case of personal entitlement owing to what? Lineage? Education? Wealth acquired? to hold that you should be protected and immune from any responsibility when your actions lead to the deaths of others. To believe that you should have infinitely more than you would ever need to survive, yet you begrudge the little that another person would claim. To trash a sacred Constitution for your own personal gain.

"Desire for more" trumps logic or reason or compassion or faith once again.
