Computer techies: need help on finding who owns Castor attack site.
We get emails and today a brochure from an organization which is attacking Betty Castor. The main thrust seems to be the Al Arian situation which is still not resolved. This is a 527, but they do not give any names. It is an ugly brochure, but it really costs to send these out.
I want to know if it is being funded by Democrats, since this is what Deutsch is personally attacking her about.

Website:
www.castortruth.com

Physical address:
American Democracy Project
3111 Stirling Rd.
Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33312

This is one reason the Miami Herald endorsed her, as well as the Palm Beach Post. Also she is a Dean Dozen this week. He is going to rally with her on Monday in West Palm Beach, just because of this anti-semitic stuff.

Sure would love to know if anyone could zero in on this group.

16. I highly suspect that.
The group is going after her big-time. When you have Bob Graham and Sen. Nelson saying cool it, guys, and Dean coming down here Tuesday,......maybe followed by more Democrats...you know something is wrong.

Betty Castor is an excellent choice, we support her and resent these attacks. They are underhanded.

17. Does the law firm know? Good question you have.
They do business in four foreign countries, seem to well-connected, so why would go after Betty Castor so viciously? Hmmmm.....

I am going to do some checking. We have friends who might know. Why WOULD a law firm do this? May they don't know, and it is just Friedman..

Can't get to the site right now....must be busy.

15. Addendum
Went to the ADP site, everything on it looking squeaky clean and piously harmless. The only giveaway that it might be another Scaife funded conservative "student organization" is the blessing from George Weasel Bush on the home page.

20. This law firm is known by the company they keep
Becker-Poliakoff used to include another partner, Pedro Ricardo Sachs, who has deep ties with the Argentine Business community.
I'm not going to cast too many aspersions but Argentina is noteworthy as a haven for fascists and has been since the 1940s. The leap to what kind of business interests politics these guys involve themselves in isn't that great is it?

Sorry about all the innuendo, but this is all you ever get when you follow these guys and the trails they leave.

put on the internet? When was the organization itself founded?

Castor's ties to group draw fire
A group that supports female candidates has provided nearly a third of her money - and a campaign manager.
By ANITA KUMAR, Times Staff Writer
Published July 18, 2004

>snip<
Deutsch said his longtime friend, Bernie Friedman, formed an independent political group, the American Democracy Project, to fight Castor after EMILY's List got involved in the race.

But Deutsch said he wanted no outside groups, including Friedman's, to campaign or raise money during the primary race. "I would wish that they didn't exist but I think you have to put into context what happened," he said.

The most recent polls show Castor, a former University of South Florida president, leading Deutsch and Miami-Dade County Mayor Alex Penelas. But they also show at least a quarter of all Democratic voters are undecided.

23. American Democracy Project is a group of Deutsch associates
from an article in the Sentinel today:

The "one iota of information" comment from Castor also is headlined on the front of a new red mailer by the American Democracy Project -- a group run by Deutsch friend Bernie Friedman and former Deutsch finance chief Ryan Hampton.

24. Dean criticized a Deutsch ad about Castor at a rally today.
http://www.tallahassee.com/mld/tallahassee/news/politics/9475758.htm
SNIP..."We've got to hold onto Bob Graham's seat and Better Castor can do that better than anybody else," Dean said, after being greeted by roaring applause at the Harriet Himmel Gilman Theater.

He lashed out at the negative campaigning in the race, hinting at a recent Deutsch ad that questions Castor's handling of the case of Sami Al-Arian, a former professor at the University of South Florida accused of having terrorist ties. Castor, a former education commissioner, previously served as USF president....."

He always said he would stay out of primaries, but this really made him mad.

I was on a mailing list with many professors from USF when all the Al Arian stuff was going on. They were confused as well, and many of them were supportive of him for a long time. They are still not convinced a complete case has been made. They were quite supportive of Castor's efforts. I guess I see things from their open-minded point of view, and I can NOT believe she would mishandle anything like that if she had the knowledge.

25. she didn't do anything wrong
imagine the uproar if the President of a University had fired a professor for being investigated. It would be an outrageous violation of the spirit of "innocent until proven guilty", not to mention academic freedom. Of course she didn't fire him, not without concrete evidence of wrongdoing. Obviously, making phone calls to accused terrorists was not concrete evidence, or he wouldn't have been cleared for a white house visit and hanging out with dubya years later.

Now the Deutsch campaign guy said things about Dean after the Castor rally today. That is just a shame. There is no need for this.
