6. What?!
Are they saying that Stupidhead was in Vietnam? That would be the scoop of the century! Or, as is more likely, are they saying that Al Gore didn't go to Vietnam -- which is also incorrect.

What a bunch of tools. I expect the correction to be broadcast to the nation at 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

33. I wrote him...here's my statement!
Mr. Daryn Kagan, as though CNN has not disgraced itself enough by "OUT FOXING" the Fox Channel, tonight while they allowed you to sub for Arron Brown, you decided to bestow more disgrace by "LYING" to the American people with your comment, "Two Nam vets running for president for the first time". I'm sure that like many others at CNN you have been drinking the poisoned kool-aid of Bushco*. Unfortunately, for you the "WORLD" knows that Bush* was never heard or seen in Vietnam. It would be in the best interest of CNN to immediately retract that statement. I’m sure CNN would not want their slogan to change to “THE MOST UNTRUSTED NEWS” in the world. It’s one thing to be bipartisan but it’s another thing to just blatantly lie to the World. (sarcasm)

You have caused an uproar. You may not know it yet, but many people across this country just saw what you said, regarding two Vietnam veterans running for president. We will not tolerate this kind of lying. It is not the truth by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, Bush received a Dishonorable Discharge. He was, in fact, AWOL. We demand an apology and a retraction.

48. A former serviceman's response to Daryn Kagan....
Daryn...

Here's a correction to your statement this evening in regards to this being the first Presidential election with two Vietnam War veterans. First off, to be a Vietnam War veteran, you actually had to be involved in combat in Vietnam.

Kerry was actually PRESENT in Vietnam, fought in combat, and was awarded medals for valor. He was awarded a Silver Star, a Bronze Star, and three purple hearts during his tour of duty. By the way, his PREVIOUS tour aboard a destroyer off Vietnam also counts as Vietnam War duty.

As to Kerry's unelected opponent, Bush flew a jet as part of his Texas Air National Guard unit until he refused to take a flight physical and was ruled unfit to fly. The closest he ever got to Vietnam was the western limit of his national guard airbase. Soon after refusing to take his flight physical, Bush became Absent Without Leave (AWOL) for more than thirty days while Americans were still being killed in Vietnam.

As a former serviceman myself, I know that John Kerry is the man I want to have in the White House, and not that other guy who couldn't seem to move for seven minutes while we were under attack on September 11, 2001.

Thanks...I look forward to seeing your retraction on the air very soon.

if CNN is implying that son of a bitch AWOL asshole ignoramus lying deadbeat is worthy of also being credited with that distinction when he was never more than a couple of hours away from home.

That's just about the last straw for me with CNN. They have gone out of their way lately in being blatant and obvious in showing where their sympathies lie. They surely don't need me as a viewer any more.

57. Here it is
http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0408/21/asb.00.html

"And for the first time, two men who served in the military during the Vietnam era are facing each other in a presidential campaign."

True they did serve in the military and true, it was the Vietnam era. But that is a slick wording Daryn Kagan used (note spelling of the name).

Furthermore, it is false. Gore v. Bush was the first time. Four years ago, but as far as Kagan is able to think, it was a millenium ago.

Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 07:48 AM by KzooDem
Dear Ms. Kagan -

I am shocked, amazed and appalled that you would even venture to "report" that this election is the first time when there are two Vietnam War veterans as candidates.

As I'm sure you well know, George Bush had "other priorities" during the war and never served there.

What, then, could possibly be reason you would mis-represent such a universally known fact?

I implore you to consider moving over the the E! Entertainment Network or some program like "Inside Edition" where your sterling credentials as a perky, little infotainment spokesmodel would be better suited.

65. I am disturbed now. Horribly disturbed.
I can't even begin to express my shock at that.

69. BUSH is not a VETERAN of VIET NAM
He is a country club veteran.

Why don't they say two prep school grads running for pres...but then again, given class dynamics in the US, that is probably not unusual.

Letters need to be written to CNN (Conservative Network News)

70. I Want A God Danned Applolgy.
I am a Viet Nam Vet.

George Bush is not a Viet Nam Vet.

Viet Nam Era means absolutly nothing. You were there or your were not there. There is no inbetween.

That sniveling stupid son of a bitch sat down in Texas snorting Cocain like a god damned vacuume cleaner during the war and has absolutly no right what so ever to be put in the same class with men and women who served their country.

I am writing a god damned E-Mail to CNN now to absolutly demand an On-Air appology to all real vets and I want to hear it reapeated until the whole country hears it as well.

This makes me so damned mad it is hard to explain.

Thom
