A lesson I learned
as a young soldier on my first deployment. I was working with Canadian, Australian, German, Dutch, Polish and other soldiers from many countries. We all agree on a few things.

Beer is good.

Everyone likes chubby girls, whether they admit to it or not.

Aussie soldiers are certifiably nuts, but good guys to have in a brawl, or in combat.

Dutch soldiers hair and beards were just funny (take a picture of your average 1969 hippie, and put him in camo and a helmet)

Beer is good.

Our highest level officers and politicians have no clue what a soldiers life is like.

and just in case anyone doesnt know.....

BEER IS GOOD.

1. Every single photo I have of my Grandfather
in WW2 he is holding a glass of beer.

I swear he had a beer stein grafted to his hand in Europe.

2. Beer is good!
*yum*

and chubby girls look really good after a few beers. LOL

Well, I'm one a chubby girl and I like beer. Hubby keeps telling me I look fantastic so it must me true! hee hee

I have no idea what a soldier's life is like. :( Had a boyfriend just after high school who went into the Marines. It was short-lived though and I doubt it would have survived regardless of the paths we took.

Thank you for your service!

Beer is great! ...as per the 5th one I'm opening now!!! :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast: :toast:

3. Well
Since i am no longer able to run like i used to be able to, I had to cut back, and switch to "gasp" light beer. Although I still have a few Hefeweizens every weekend or so...I am stationed in Oklahoma, and they have this ridiculous law that only 3.2 beer may be sold here, except in a package liquor store, and it cant be cold. Most people here just drink hard liquor....lol.

Beer and chubby girls are good!

11. Turkey!
Not Wild Turkey! LOL!

Hubby's oldest brother talks about when he was stationed in Turkey and how he could never get cold (chilled) beer. He said they always had to ask for ice with it. *eewwwww*

Sorry about the 3.2. :(

5. I am not a beer fan, myself. I'm just grateful there's SOMETHING fattening
Edited on Fri Aug-20-04 10:49 PM by calimary
that I don't have a taste for. Such things are rare, indeed, at least for me. But that does leave more for the beer lovers here, at least.

Now, CHOCOLATE, on the other hand...

6. Hey, thumbs up from a "chubby girl"
I thought no one cared. One thing my spouse always tells me: Every time I see a "plus size woman" she is always with a man.

I don't know, I have seen some without men but rings on their finger.

9. You're drinking canoe beer?
Why is drinking Bud Light like making love in a boat?

Cause it's effing near water.

If you're ever in Philadelphia, try Yard's Paysanne.

10. If in Louisiana
Try TurboDog, Black Voodoo, or Purple Haze. Shiner Bock and Shiner blonde from Texas are good...and the best cheap beer on earth is LoneStar. Usta be PBR(non beer drinkers/rednecks thats Pabst Blue Ribbon) but thanx to redneck chic it has gone up to like 6 bucks a sixpack.

12. We mostly travel in the NE
as neither of us can stand heat or bugs.
And Mrs Gone Off Shore doesn't drink beer, although she likes hard cider. I'll have to keep an eye out for Turbo Dog, etc.
Have you tried Dogfish Ale? Brewed in Delaware and is excellent. And they've started to do there own local rum (!) which we haven't tried yet.
Yard's is totally local to Philly and is brewed about a mile from where we live.

14. That's a new one for me.
I'll have to look for that as well.
We've got a great beer distributor in Delaware, called Total Wine (yeah , weird ) but they have an enormous selection. Everything from canoe beer to really obscure imports. Can even get Murphy's Irish Stout and Sam Smith's Pale Ale.
Time for a beer run.
:toast: :silly:  :hangover:
