4. other
"sin" taxes on cigarettes, alcohol, import taxes on goodies from foreign lands......They need to can the IRS, and go with the national sales tax. Then the repugnicants couldnt get their pet CPAs to get them out of paying anything while receiving billionaires welfare...

8. just a plain wealth tax? awesome idea but fantasy....
First it would be very hard to figure, there would be a lot of red tape.

of course it would be impossible to get passed into law because of the rich people on both sides of the aisle and then there would be so many loopholes because you'd have to have your "value" constantly assessed.

7. You paya SHITLOAD more
You are forgetting a plethora of hidden taxes on hundreds of products...not to mention the corporate taxes that get factored into the pricing of everything you buy...OH, and the 7.5% FICA tax you pay is actually DOUBLED since your employer's matching "contribution" is also factored into your pay rate from day one...

11. we pay 1/3 what we did under Ike
then, top rate on income was 90%.
Now, isnt it 35%?

This way of rough approximation of the total... i know it is not precise... indicates we pay a about a third of what we ought.

Result: 12 million hungry, 3 million homeless, homeless die at 3 times the normal rate.

Many kinds of tax, small total paid tho. The real measure of tax being too little is what i cite ... hunger and homelessness. No dem can ignore these two killers.

10. National sales tax
is the only fair decision. Even tax cheaters like the enron bandits have to by toilet paper, and drug dealers have to buy clothes.....No one could escape a national sales tax.

13. No, and again no.
A National Sales Tax would be highly regressive, and would put the lion's share of the tax burden on those who can least afford it. This idea has been thrashed to death. I won't go into the myriad reasons why this is such a bad idea but consider this.

Who (as a class demographic) uses the greatest share of their income to purchase goods and services? Who uses the least? How would this affect the percentage of their income they pay in taxes?
