Question: Does any broadcast media still total up the war casualties?
I monitor CBS and ABC News regularly, and CNN to some extent.

Between 4-6 weeks ago, I noticed that while these broadcast networks would report the number of Americans deaths in Iraq on a given day, that they did not provide the running total.

It used to be, "Today's casualties bring the number of American deaths in Iraq to 862 (whatever)" -- but now, it's just the day's deaths outside of context.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is there a source that is in fact keeping track of the totals?

I find it kinda weird that a number of networks seem to have simultaneously decided not to provide running totals. Funny that it coincides with the political convention season, huh?

2. Yes, they used to
I have monitored ABC and CBS every night for the last 2 years or so. When they reported on the day's American death toll, they would conclude the report with what these losses brought the total of dead to.

Even CNN used to!

They have not provided detailed accounts of total casualties, especially on the Iraqi side, but they used to regularly report the total number of American dead.

7. That is what I mean, you say they total US casualties
what about an overall IWR casualty count, or at least a range of

estimates.

I've seen 'coalition totals', but they always exclude ING, Police, Civ.

and mercenary #s as well as 'enemies'

What is the total # of lives lost in this quackmire (see 1984 appendix ref. 'duckspeak'.)

Scroll down to about two thirds of the page. (it's in the same place each day).

Also enjoy the writings, funny, witty, insightful and kick ass in-your-face.

5. I love Bart
I've been a big fan for years. He even printed a piece of mine a few days ago and my cartoons -- I'm so proud!

Yeah -- Bartcop is where you have to go these days to get the casualty count.

Why question is -- why did CBS and ABC stop reporting the running totals on their nightly broadcasts? They *used* to.

6. Are you a Producer on CBS or ABC News?
You sure sound like one.

"It's soooooooooo last year" sounds like something they might say to explain this.

The timing also coincides with the enthusiastic reception of Mike Moore's F9-11. Maybe they were told that to be "fair" they had to stop providing totals which reinforced Mike's "America-hating" agenda.

Of Iraq, to steal Iraqi oil and have a central U.S. base PERMANENTLY in the oil region (so they can attack and invade other oil rich nations).

11. I could have sworn that CBS news showed it the other night
They showed the total US deaths and the US combat casualties. I'm not completely sure it was CBS, though. It might have been MSNBC.
