This is so sad! Freepers have turned against Chris Matthews.
Edited on Sat Aug-21-04 03:44 PM by JudiLyn
I was checking google for "John E. O'Neill" and Hardball, hoping to see if there was a photo available of strange, bloated O'Neill, and one of the links was to Free Republic.

They believe Chris Matthews has gone baaaad, because he didn't give O'Neill a soft interview. If you're interested in their pathetic scribblings, (actually very amusing), check here:

1. "Liberal" Christopher Matthews
Matthews, the ultimate Reagan Democrat beat up on our side for 3 and half years and now that he is sort of evening the score the Freepers are apoplectic.

3. I'm hoping he's reading the tea leaves
and sees that liberals are going to bounce back big time.

5. That's my take on it
He once said the only reason he went after Clinton was because it helped his ratings. He goes whichever way the wind blows ... which means he must think the wind is blowing our way.

21. I have always found him to be the best attack TV journalist there is
He doesn't seem to let up on anybody...I think he is like a twisted version of that mirror from "Harry Potter", if you want him to sound good he does, if you don't he doesn't. Like all press, it's still just product.

I wish I could say or ask the things he does and get get paid for it.

4. Chris Matthews has a very sharp prosecutorial edge .....
in his interviews. He tends to a bit "up and down" sometimes; though, I can't really put my finger on it. But, referring to the main post, the Republicans, with their "you're either with us or against us" mentality will view ANY member from the Fourth Estate as being "liberal", "left wing", etc., if they don't parrot the "official position"!

6. I see you're new
There is a "with us or against us" attitude here on DU too. Be careful of it. And welcome.

and your "welcome". I have rather thick skin. I don't tend to get into "flame" wars with rigid minds. I tend to be more issues oriented than "rooting" for the right high school football team.

10. Be careful of what? People who are honest

and not disruptors don't have problems here, unless you consider having to defend your positions a "problem."

14. Oh C'mon! We have many here who "pounce" on people at times for
not towing the line. Have to admit I've done it a few times when people happen to not be as far left as I am on my "pet issues" (abortion, civil rights, women's rights). I've had to stop myself many a time from calling someone a "freeper" or a Republican.

Don't tell me you are always "civil and reasonable" about EVERY issue.

8. Matthews is a turncoat shill
Just like the rest of the rat pack. When it gets tough, they turn and run the other way. In this case, it appears our way and god save us, that is all I can say.

The freeps can have this big mouth all to themselves.

He'll say whatever he needs to say to stay on the air and the way things are going, he needs to change his attitude and so he is now doing it.

I still don't like this lowlife SOB.

What he said to Kucinich has permanently left a scar on me and I will not forget!

Sorry Tweetybird! :puke:

16. Oh, God. I forgot that nasty,venemous,shabby,tacky,brutal,vicious
"interview."

I have NEVER been so horrified by anything I've seen on tv. He doesn't have the good sense to know how much he revealed about himself.

A man without true conscience. Like Haldeman or Erlichman or whomever, he's LOST his moral compass.

How can one ever forget Matthews calling Dennis Kucinich nothing but a "panderer"? I cannot forget it and I will not forget it.

Screw you Matthews! I hope you rot in hell with the rest of your lowlife rats! You have no balls and you claim to be a man! :puke:

17. Yes, that's what I think too.
If he's in our favor, he's using us, and people need to keep that in mind, like that line from that movie (???) "keep your friends close, and your enemies closer".

As a Dem.

Perhaps he's leaning left again to prepare us for that day.

12. I"m not a newbie.. so I can say things freely..
Frankly, I thought Matthews kicked ass lately on this SBVT issue. I was totally impressed. Do you all find it SO impossible for someone to be so turned off by an attack that it turns your heart? What would you say to Teresa Heinz Kerry? She was turned when she found out about what they did to Max Clelland.

18. Tweety is a very sensitive issue here. It's one of the touchiest issues
on this board for some reason. I've been jumped on about it when I had the nerve to suggest that we send him supportive letters a few months ago. You would have thought I suggested that we send love letters to Dubya himself!

15. Uh...I like Chris.
He has been on the wrong side on most of his views most of the time but I liked him ever since the McLaughlin Group. I rarely agree with his views but can't help but like him anyway.

Creative and creepy on that Jenna snake tounge. ;)

19. Have to admit He pisses me off at times but he's like a naughty kid.
Somehow I can't help but get a chuckle out of his show. He goes through phases: The good Chris phase and the bad phase. You just have to be sure to stay away when he's gone to the dark side. That's probably why I don't hate him - when Bush landed on that aircraft carrier - I did'nt watch for about a week.

I also didn't watch much of him at all during the 2000 election.
