5. CalTech???

I'm not sure that he deserved to be there...
That whole thing isn't very intelligent.

If I was his friend, I would be like "Dude, remember to get some
surgical gloves and foot baggies and a hair baggie from the biology
lab guys (preferably just swipe a few sets when nobody is looking),
then, after each SUV attack, take the gloves, etc and burn them in
a trash fire. And never call the newspapers or let anyone else
know you are doing this."

Not that I would advocate doing anything like this. It isn't really
helpful. SUVs will die out soon enough on their own (unless powered
by something besides gasoline). When gasoline reflects the price
of oil (oh, say, Nov 3), and the world realizes that the demand for
oil cannot be met with production... gas will go to $5/gallon, and
everyone but Arrrrnold will dump their SUVs (or, at least, not drive
them anymore). Stupid? Yes, but no different then when we hunted
whales almost to extinction primarily for oil to power lanterns.

2. Politics aside, that's some good forensics work there.
Finding a hair around a bunch of Car-B-Ques...

4. Dozens of people probably drop hair at a car dealership every day
How do you know that not one of the other hairs is the hair of the culpret?

Do they videocameras?
What about witnesses?

I guess we are about to find out.

6. So this guy wanted to buy an SUV?
That will have to be his defense.

7. I don't know if he wanted an SUV.
It's for the 12 jurors to decide if he is guilty or not.

3. Hang him high I say! (If he is guilty)
Not literally of course, but what he is accused of doing deserves big punishment. He possibly jeopardized people's lives by committing arson and he damaged millions of dollars of inventory - even if a lot of people here do not like the inventory, he clearly has no right to do what he did.

It is a shame that a very bright young man would be caught up in something so stupid - Cal tech has some of the world's top minds - especially the grad students. Maybe he can pay back part of his debt to society by using his mind for constructive purposes if he is convicted and sent to prison.
